Setup and Installation

Installation of the Camco Premium Ceramic RV Toilet is designed for a standard two-bolt setup. Follow these general steps:

  1. Preparation: Ensure the water supply is turned off and the waste tank is empty. Remove any existing toilet. Clean the floor flange area thoroughly.
  2. Positioning: Place the new floor seal over the waste opening on the floor flange. Carefully position the toilet assembly over the floor flange, aligning the mounting holes with the bolts.
  3. Securing: Use the provided mounting hardware to secure the toilet to the floor. Tighten the nuts evenly to create a watertight seal, but do not overtighten to avoid cracking the ceramic.
  4. Water Connection: Connect the water supply line to the toilet's water inlet. Ensure all connections are tight to prevent leaks.
  5. Testing: Turn on the water supply and check for any leaks around the base and water connection. Flush the toilet several times to verify proper operation and seal.

Operating Instructions

The Camco Premium Ceramic RV Toilet features a gravity flush system operated by a two-step foot pedal:

  • Adding Water to Bowl: To add water to the bowl before use, press the foot pedal halfway down. This will open the water valve, allowing water to fill the bowl. Release the pedal to close the valve.
  • Flushing: To flush the toilet, press the foot pedal fully down. This will open both the water valve and the waste ball valve, allowing water to rinse the bowl and waste to enter the holding tank. Hold the pedal down until the bowl is clear, then release it to close both valves.

The soft-close seat and lid ensure quiet operation. Avoid forcing the seat or lid closed manually to preserve the soft-close mechanism.

Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and hygienic operation of your RV toilet:

  • Cleaning: Clean the ceramic bowl and exterior surfaces regularly with mild soap and water or a non-abrasive bathroom cleaner. Avoid cleaners containing harsh chemicals, acids, or abrasives, as these can damage the ceramic finish, plastic components, or wood seat.
  • Seal Lubrication: Periodically lubricate the waste ball seal with a silicone-based lubricant designed for RV toilets to maintain a good seal and smooth pedal operation.
  • Winterization: Before storing your RV in freezing temperatures, ensure the toilet and plumbing system are properly winterized according to your RV manufacturer's guidelines. This typically involves draining all water and flushing with RV antifreeze.
  • Seat Care: The wood seat can be cleaned with a damp cloth and mild soap. Avoid excessive moisture and harsh chemicals to prevent damage to the wood finish.

Troubleshooting

Here are solutions to common issues you might encounter:

  • Leaks at Base: Check the tightness of the mounting bolts. Ensure the floor seal is properly seated and not damaged. If leaks persist, the floor seal may need replacement.
  • Water Leaking into Bowl: This usually indicates a worn or dirty water valve seal. Turn off the water supply, clean the seal, or replace it if necessary.
  • Poor Flush: Ensure adequate water pressure. Check if the waste ball opens fully when the pedal is pressed. A clogged rim jet or a partially obstructed waste ball can reduce flush effectiveness.
  • Foot Pedal Sticking: Lubricate the pedal mechanism and waste ball seal with a silicone-based lubricant.
  • Odor: Ensure the waste ball seal is holding water to prevent odors from the holding tank. Use appropriate RV toilet chemicals to break down waste and control odors.
