4. Operating Modes
The Olaalite OL-A003 offers several operating modes to suit various applications:
- Auto Mode: The unit automatically cycles through its pre-programmed patterns and effects. This mode is suitable for continuous, dynamic displays without external control.
- Music Sound Mode: The laser effects respond to ambient sound or music detected by the unit's built-in microphone. The patterns and speed will synchronize with the beat.
- DMX512 Mode: For professional control, connect the unit to a DMX controller. This allows precise manipulation of laser movement, patterns, colors, and other parameters. The unit supports both 6-channel and 34-channel DMX configurations.
- Master/Slave Mode: Link multiple OL-A003 units together. One unit is designated as the 'Master' and controls the 'Slave' units, ensuring synchronized light shows across all connected devices.
- Remote Control Mode: Use the included infrared remote control for convenient selection of modes, patterns, colors, and other basic functions from a distance. Ensure a clear line of sight to the unit's IR receiver.
To switch between modes, use the 'MENU' button on the unit's rear panel or the corresponding buttons on the remote control.
5. DMX Control
For advanced control, connect the OL-A003 to a DMX512 controller.
- Connect a DMX cable from your DMX controller's output to the 'DMX IN' port on the OL-A003.
- If linking multiple units, connect a DMX cable from the first unit's 'DMX OUT' port to the next unit's 'DMX IN' port, and so on.
- On the unit's display, select either '6CH' or '34CH' DMX mode using the 'UP' and 'DOWN' buttons, then press 'ENTER'.
- Refer to your DMX controller's manual and the OL-A003's DMX channel chart (typically provided in a separate DMX guide or detailed specification sheet) for specific channel assignments and functions (e.g., pattern selection, color control, rotation, zoom, strobe).
6. Maintenance
Proper maintenance ensures the longevity and optimal performance of your laser light.
- Cleaning: Regularly clean the outer casing and the laser output lens with a soft, dry, lint-free cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
- Ventilation: Periodically check that the ventilation openings are free from dust and debris. Use compressed air if necessary to clear blockages.
- Storage: When not in use for extended periods, store the unit in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
- Servicing: Do not attempt to open the unit or service the laser module yourself. Refer all servicing to qualified personnel.
7. Troubleshooting
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Unit does not power on. | No power supply; power cable loose; faulty outlet. | Check power cable connection; try a different outlet; ensure power switch is ON. |
| No laser output. | Unit in standby; mode not selected; laser aperture blocked. | Ensure unit is powered on and not in standby mode; select an operating mode; check for obstructions. |
| Remote control not working. | Battery depleted; no line of sight; IR receiver blocked. | Replace CR2 battery; ensure direct line of sight to the unit's front panel; clear any obstructions. |
| Laser beams are not clearly visible. | Lack of atmospheric haze/smoke. | For optimal beam visibility, use a fog or haze machine. Without atmospheric particles, only patterns on surfaces will be clearly visible. |
| Unit makes a spinning sound. | Normal operation of internal motor. | This is normal and indicates the Galvo scanning system is functioning. No action required. |
