4. Setup
4.1 Assembly
The VEVOR Post Hole Digger requires minimal assembly. Attach the handles to the main unit using the provided bolts. Ensure all connections are secure before operation.
4.2 Fuel Mixing
This is a 2-stroke engine and requires a specific fuel mixture. The recommended fuel mixture ratio of gasoline to oil is 40:1. Use the provided oil mixing bottle to accurately measure and mix the fuel. Always use unleaded petrol and synthetic 2-stroke oil. Never use pure petrol.
4.3 Attaching Auger Bits and Extensions
Select the appropriate auger bit (6" or 10") for your task. To attach, align the auger shaft with the output shaft of the digger and secure it with the provided pin. For deeper holes, attach one or more extension rods between the digger and the auger bit, securing each connection with pins. The extension rods are approximately 6 inches each, allowing for increased depth.

5. Operating Instructions
5.1 Starting the Engine
- Ensure the fuel tank is filled with the correct 40:1 fuel mixture.
- Locate the primer bulb (usually near the carburetor) and press it several times until fuel is visible.
- Set the choke lever to the 'Start' position.
- Pull the starter cord firmly and smoothly until the engine fires.
- Once the engine starts, gradually move the choke lever to the 'Run' position.
5.2 Drilling Technique
Hold the digger firmly with both hands on the shock-absorbing foam handles. Position the auger bit over the desired digging spot. Apply steady downward pressure while engaging the throttle. Allow the auger to do the work, periodically lifting slightly to clear soil from the hole.

5.3 Safety Precautions
- Always wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), including safety glasses, gloves, and sturdy footwear.
- Be aware of potential kickback if the auger encounters rocks, roots, or extremely hard soil. Maintain a firm grip.
- Do not operate the digger near underground utilities (e.g., electrical lines, gas pipes). Always check for buried lines before digging.
- The emergency stop switch is located on the handle for quick shutdown in case of an emergency.
- Ensure adequate ventilation when operating in enclosed spaces to avoid carbon monoxide buildup.

6. Maintenance
6.1 General Cleaning
After each use, clean the auger bit and the main unit to remove soil and debris. This prevents buildup and ensures smooth operation. Store the unit in a dry, protected area.
6.2 Spark Plug Inspection
Periodically inspect the spark plug for wear or fouling. Replace if necessary using the provided spark plug and tool kit.
6.3 Fuel Storage
When storing the digger for extended periods, drain the fuel tank to prevent fuel degradation and carburetor issues. Run the engine until it runs out of fuel to clear the carburetor.
7. Troubleshooting
7.1 Engine Not Starting
- Check fuel level and ensure correct 40:1 mixture.
- Verify choke position is correct for starting.
- Ensure the primer bulb is filled with fuel.
- Inspect the spark plug; clean or replace if fouled.
7.2 Oil Leaking
If oil leakage is observed, particularly around the engine or gearbox, cease operation immediately. This may indicate a seal failure or other internal issue. Contact VEVOR customer support for assistance.
7.3 Reduced Drilling Performance
- Check for dull or damaged auger bits; replace if necessary.
- Ensure sufficient fuel and proper mixture.
- Clear any obstructions (rocks, large roots) from the digging path.
