6. Operating Instructions
6.1. Selecting a Charging Mode
After connecting the charger to the battery and AC power, press the MODE button to cycle through the available charging modes. The charger will display the selected mode.

Image 6.1: An illustration of the various charging modes available on the BYGD S5000, along with their intended battery types and functions.
- 6V Mode: For 6V lead-acid batteries (wet, gel, enhanced flooded, maintenance-free, calcium).
- 12V Mode: For 12V lead-acid batteries (wet, gel, enhanced flooded, maintenance-free, calcium).
- 12V AGM SLA Mode: Specifically for 12V AGM and SLA lead-acid batteries.
- 12V Lithium Mode: For 12V Li-ion batteries with BMS, including LiFePO4. Use with care.
- 12V Repair Mode: Extends the life of old, idle, slightly damaged batteries by removing sulfation and repairing them with pulse repair technology.
- 12V Supply Mode: Converts to DC power to supply any 12VDC device with a maximum supply current of 2A. Use in excess of 2A is strictly prohibited.
6.2. Charging Process (5 Step 4 Stage Smart Charging)
The BYGD S5000 employs a sophisticated 5-step, 4-stage charging process to optimize battery health and charge efficiency:
- Step 1: Pre-charge - Initial assessment and gentle charging for deeply discharged batteries.
- Step 2: Charge Detection and Diagnosis - Analyzes battery condition and determines optimal charging parameters.
- Step 3: Constant Current Charging - Charges the battery at a steady current until it reaches a certain voltage level.
- Step 4: Constant Voltage Charging - Charges the battery at a steady voltage, allowing the current to decrease as the battery approaches full charge.
- Step 5: Trickle Maintenance Charging - Maintains the battery at full charge, preventing self-discharge and sulfation.

6.3. Memory Function
The charger features an advanced memory function. It will remember the last selected charging mode and automatically resume charging in that mode when reconnected or powered on, saving time and effort.
6.4. Temperature Compensation
The integrated digital thermal sensor detects ambient temperature and adjusts the charging voltage accordingly. This prevents over-charging in hot conditions (e.g., 45°C / 113°F) and under-charging in cold conditions (e.g., -20°C / -4°F), ensuring optimal and safe charging performance.
