5. Setup and Installation
5.1. Transformer Placement
- Choose a suitable outdoor location for the transformer, ensuring it is protected from direct heavy rain and easily accessible.
- Mount the transformer securely to a wall or sturdy surface using appropriate fasteners. Ensure the photocell sensor is not obstructed for optimal dusk-to-dawn operation.
- Plug the transformer into a standard 120V AC outdoor GFCI outlet.
5.2. Deck Light Installation
The deck lights are designed for recessed installation in various surfaces such as wood, composite decking, or concrete.
- Plan Layout: Determine the desired locations for each deck light. Ensure adequate spacing for even illumination and ease of wiring.
- Drill Holes: Using an appropriate drill bit (typically φ32mm for the standard lights), drill holes at your marked locations. Ensure the depth is sufficient for the light fixture and its protective shell.
- Insert Lights: Gently push each LED deck light into its drilled hole until it sits flush with the surface.
- Connect Wiring: Connect the cables from the deck lights to the low voltage output terminals of the transformer. Ensure correct polarity if specified (usually indicated by markings on the wires or connectors). Use waterproof connectors for all outdoor connections.
- Secure Cables: Route and secure all cables to prevent tripping hazards and protect them from damage.

6. Operating Instructions
The transformer offers several operating modes controlled via its panel or a remote control (if included with your specific model).
6.1. Power On/Off
Press the ON/OFF button on the transformer to manually turn the lights on or off.
6.2. Photocell Sensor Mode (Auto)
Select the Auto mode. The built-in photocell sensor will detect ambient light levels. The lights will automatically turn on at dusk and turn off at dawn.
6.3. Countdown Timer Mode
In Auto mode, you can also set a countdown timer. After the lights turn on at dusk, they will remain on for the selected duration (e.g., 1H, 3H, 5H, 9H) and then turn off automatically. The timer starts counting once the lights activate at dusk.
6.4. Always ON/OFF Mode
This mode allows you to override the sensor and timer functions, keeping the lights continuously on or off until manually changed.
6.5. Memory Function
The transformer is equipped with a memory function that saves your last selected operating mode (Auto, Timer, Always ON/OFF). If power is interrupted, the unit will resume the last setting once power is restored.
7. Maintenance
- Cleaning: Periodically clean the transformer and deck lights with a soft, damp cloth to remove dirt and debris. Ensure the photocell sensor on the transformer is clean and unobstructed for proper operation. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
- Inspection: Regularly inspect all cables and connections for any signs of wear, damage, or corrosion. Ensure all connections remain secure and waterproof.
- Light Replacement: LED lights are designed for long life and are generally not user-replaceable. If a light fails, contact customer support for assistance.
8. Troubleshooting
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Lights do not turn on. | No power to transformer. Loose or incorrect wiring. Photocell sensor obstructed or in bright area. Transformer overload. | Check power outlet and GFCI. Verify all connections are secure and correct. Ensure photocell is clean and in a dark area at dusk. Reduce the number of connected lights or total wattage. |
| Lights stay on during the day. | Photocell sensor obstructed or faulty. Incorrect mode selected. | Clean photocell sensor; ensure no light source is directly hitting it. Verify Auto mode is selected. |
| Lights flicker or are dim. | Loose connection. Insufficient power. Damaged cable/light. | Check all wiring connections. Ensure total wattage of lights does not exceed 100W. Inspect cables and lights for damage; replace if necessary. |
| Timer function not working. | Incorrect timer setting. Photocell not detecting dusk. | Ensure a timer duration is selected after entering Auto mode. Check photocell sensor for obstructions. |
