  • Do not pull or carry by cord, use cord as a handle, close a door on cord, or pull cord around sharp edges or corners. Do not run appliance over cord. Keep cord away from heated surfaces.
  • Do not unplug by pulling on cord. To unplug, grasp the plug, not the cord.
  • Do not handle plug or appliance with wet hands.
  • Do not put any object into openings. Do not use with any opening blocked; keep openings free of dust, lint, hair, and anything that may reduce air flow.
  • Keep hair, loose clothing, fingers, and all parts of body away from openings and moving parts.
  • Turn off all controls before unplugging.
  • Use extra care when cleaning on stairs.
  • Do not use to pick up flammable or combustible materials (lighter fluid, gasoline, kerosene, etc.) or use in areas where they may be present.
  • Do not use in an enclosed space filled with vapors given off by oil base paint, paint thinner, mothproofing substances, flammable dust, or other explosive or toxic vapors.
  • Do not use to pick up toxic material (chlorine bleach, ammonia, drain cleaner, etc.).
  • Do not pick up anything that is burning or smoking, such as cigarettes, matches, or hot ashes.
  • Do not use without filters in place.
  • Do not immerse in water or liquid.
  • Use only BISSELL cleaning products intended for use with this appliance.
  • Unplug before connecting or disconnecting the brush roll.

Setup

  1. Assemble the Handle: Insert the handle assembly into the main body of the machine until it clicks securely into place.
  2. Fill the Clean Water Tank:
    • Remove the clean water tank from the back of the machine.
    • Unscrew the cap and fill the tank with warm tap water up to the indicated water fill line.
    • Add the BISSELL Multi-Surface Pet Formula cleaning solution up to the formula fill line.
    • Replace the cap and reinsert the tank into the machine until it clicks.

  3. Prepare the Machine: Ensure the dirty water tank is empty and properly seated. Check that the brush roll is correctly installed.

Operating Instructions

1. Powering On and Selecting Mode

  • Plug the machine into a grounded electrical outlet.
  • Press the power button located on the handle to turn on the machine.
  • Select the appropriate cleaning mode:
    • Hard Floor Mode: For sealed hard surfaces like tile, wood, laminate, etc.
    • Area Rug Mode: For refreshing and cleaning area rugs.

2. Cleaning Hard Floors

  1. Ensure the machine is in Hard Floor mode.
  2. Hold the solution spray trigger on the handle to dispense cleaning solution and activate the brush roll.
  3. Make slow, overlapping passes over the floor. For best results, push forward to apply solution and scrub, then pull backward to suction up the dirty water.
  4. Release the trigger when pulling back to maximize suction and dry the floor.

3. Cleaning Area Rugs

  1. Switch the machine to Area Rug mode.
  2. Make a forward and backward pass while holding the solution spray trigger.
  3. Release the trigger and make another forward and backward pass to remove excess moisture.
  4. Allow rugs to dry completely before walking on them.

Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures optimal performance and longevity of your BISSELL CrossWave.

1. Emptying and Cleaning the Dirty Water Tank

  • After each use, or when the dirty water tank reaches the "FULL" line, turn off and unplug the machine.
  • Remove the dirty water tank from the front of the machine.
  • Carefully remove the filter and pour out the dirty water. Rinse the tank thoroughly with clean water.
  • Clean the debris screen inside the tank.
  • Allow all parts to air dry before reassembling.

2. Cleaning the Brush Roll and Brush Roll Window

  • Remove the brush roll window by pulling up on the tab.
  • Pull the brush roll tab to remove the brush roll.
  • Rinse the brush roll and brush roll window under running water. Remove any hair or debris.
  • Place the brush roll in the drying tray of the Rinse & Clean Out Storage Tray to air dry.
  • Ensure the brush roll and window are completely dry before reassembling.

3. Cleaning the Filter

  • Remove the filter from the dirty water tank.
  • Rinse the filter under warm water.
  • Allow the filter to air dry completely for at least 24 hours before reinserting. Do not operate the machine without a dry filter.

4. Self-Cleanout Cycle

  • Place the machine on the Rinse & Clean Out Storage Tray.
  • Ensure the clean water tank has water and solution.
  • Press and hold the "Clean Out" button (if available on your model) or follow the specific self-clean instructions in your quick start guide. This cycle flushes the brush roll and internal pathways.
  • Empty the dirty water tank after the cycle is complete.
