Setup

Initial Winding and Time Setting

Your Tissot PRX Automatic Chronograph is powered by an automatic movement, meaning it winds itself with the motion of your wrist. If the watch has stopped, it requires an initial manual wind to start. To do so:

  1. Unscrew the crown (if it's a screw-down crown) and pull it out to position 2.
  2. Turn the crown clockwise approximately 20-30 times. This will provide enough power reserve to start the watch.
  3. Pull the crown out to position 3. Turn the crown to set the correct time.
  4. Push the crown back to position 1 and screw it down firmly to ensure water resistance.

Date Setting

To set the date:

  1. Unscrew the crown (if applicable) and pull it out to position 2.
  2. Turn the crown counter-clockwise to adjust the date. Avoid setting the date between 9 PM and 3 AM, as this can damage the movement.
  3. Once the correct date is displayed, push the crown back to position 1 and screw it down firmly.

Operating Instructions (Chronograph Function)

Your Tissot PRX Automatic Chronograph features a stopwatch function. The chronograph is operated using the pushers located on either side of the crown.

  1. Start: Press the top pusher to start the chronograph. The central chronograph seconds hand will begin to move.
  2. Stop: Press the top pusher again to stop the chronograph. The central chronograph seconds hand will stop, indicating the elapsed time.
  3. Reset: After stopping the chronograph, press the bottom pusher to reset all chronograph hands to their zero positions.

The subdials on your watch display elapsed minutes and hours for the chronograph function, typically at the 3, 6, and 9 o'clock positions.

Maintenance

Water Resistance

Your Tissot PRX Automatic Chronograph is water-resistant up to 10 bar (100 meters / 330 feet). This makes it suitable for short periods of recreational swimming and showering. However, it is not suitable for diving or snorkeling. Always ensure the crown is fully screwed down before exposing the watch to water.

Cleaning and Care

To maintain the appearance and longevity of your watch:

  • Clean the case and metal bracelet regularly with a soft, damp cloth.
  • Avoid exposing the watch to extreme temperatures, direct sunlight for prolonged periods, or strong magnetic fields.
  • If the watch comes into contact with saltwater, rinse it thoroughly with fresh water and dry it with a soft cloth.

Troubleshooting

If your watch is not functioning as expected, consider the following common issues:

  • Watch has stopped: As an automatic watch, it requires motion to maintain its power reserve. If unworn for an extended period, manually wind the watch as described in the Setup section.
  • Date not changing correctly: Ensure the date is not being set during the prohibited hours (9 PM - 3 AM). If the issue persists, consult a qualified watchmaker.
  • Water ingress: If you notice moisture inside the watch, immediately take it to an authorized service center. Do not attempt to open the watch yourself.

For any persistent issues or repairs, please contact an authorized Tissot service center.
