6. Maintenance

6.1 Manual Defrost

The freezer requires manual defrosting to maintain optimal performance and energy efficiency. Defrost when the frost layer reaches approximately 0.2-0.4 inches (5-10 mm) thick.

  1. Prepare: Remove all food items from the freezer and store them in another freezer or cooler.
  2. Power Off: Turn the temperature control dial to the "OFF" position (if available) or unplug the freezer from the power outlet.
  3. Open Drain: Locate the drain plug inside the freezer and the external drain cap. Remove both to allow water to drain. Place a shallow pan or towel under the external drain to collect water.
  4. Defrost: Leave the lid open to allow the frost to melt naturally. To speed up the process, place bowls of hot water inside the freezer (do not use sharp objects to chip away ice).
  5. Clean: Once defrosted, wipe the interior with a soft cloth and a mild detergent solution. Rinse with clean water and dry thoroughly.
  6. Restart: Replace the drain plugs, close the lid, and plug the freezer back in. Allow it to cool for a few hours before returning food items.
