1. Introduction and Overview

The EVDANCE 16Amp Level 1 & Level 2 EV Charger is designed to provide efficient and safe charging for your electric vehicle. It is compatible with J1772 electric vehicles and plug-in hybrid vehicles (North American Standard). This charger offers superior performance, being up to 4 times faster than other 8A Level 1 EV chargers. (Note: Tesla vehicles require a separate SAE J1772 adapter, not included).

The charger features an intuitive LED display that provides real-time status updates and indicates any errors during the charging process. Its robust construction utilizes high-grade, rugged materials, ensuring durability. The intelligent chip within the control box continuously monitors charging status, and the unit boasts an IP66 waterproof rating and UL94V-0 fire rating for enhanced safety.

Designed for convenience, this portable charger includes both NEMA 6-20 (220V or 240V) and NEMA 5-15 (110V) plugs, offering flexible usage options. The generous 25-foot cable length allows for versatile placement in your garage or driveway. A dedicated carrying bag is also included for easy transport and storage.

EVDANCE stands behind its product with a one-year warranty. For any concerns or issues, please refer to the troubleshooting section or contact customer support.

2. Setup

Setting up your EVDANCE EV Charger is a straightforward process. Follow these four steps to begin charging:

  1. Insert the EV charger's plug into the wall outlet. Ensure the outlet is properly grounded. The charger supports both NEMA 5-15 (110V) and NEMA 6-20 (220V/240V) outlets.
  2. Hold the 'A' button for 3 seconds to adjust the charging current. This allows you to select the desired amperage (6A, 8A, 10A, 12A, or 16A) based on your vehicle's needs and the outlet's capacity. When using a NEMA 5-15 outlet, the current can be adjusted to a maximum of 12A.
  3. Click the 'A' button to select the charging current and wait for 5 seconds for the setting to apply.
  4. Plug the charger connector into the vehicle's charging port to start charging.

Avoid exposing the charger to severe rain, snow, or other inclement weather for prolonged periods, despite its waterproof rating, to maximize its lifespan.

5. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your EVDANCE EV Charger, the LED status indicator can help diagnose the problem. Refer to the LED Status Description in the Operating Instructions section for detailed meanings of the light patterns.

  • If the LED is Flashing Red (Ground Fault): Ensure the wall outlet is properly grounded. Do not use the charger if the outlet is not properly grounded.
  • If the LED is Solid Red (General Fault): This indicates a general error. Check for any visible damage to the charger, cable, or plugs. Ensure all connections are secure. Try unplugging the charger from both the wall and the vehicle, waiting a few minutes, and then reconnecting.
  • No Lights/No Power: Verify that the wall outlet has power. Check the circuit breaker. Ensure the charger's plug is fully inserted into the outlet.
  • Charging Not Starting: Ensure the charger is properly connected to both the wall and the vehicle. Check the vehicle's charging settings. If the LED is solid blue, the charger is in standby mode; ensure the vehicle is ready to accept a charge.
