Setup

Battery Installation

Your Taylor Precision 5817FS timer requires two (2) AAA batteries, which are included. To install:

1. Locate the battery compartment on the back of the timer.
2. Open the battery compartment cover.
3. Insert the two AAA batteries, ensuring correct polarity (+ and -) as indicated inside the compartment.
4. Close the battery compartment cover securely.

Positioning the Timer

The timer offers two convenient positioning options:

• Magnet: A strong magnet on the back allows you to attach the timer to metallic surfaces like refrigerators or ovens.
• Stand: A fold-out stand on the back enables the timer to stand upright on a flat surface.

Operating Instructions

Setting the Timer

The timer can be set for up to 99 minutes and 59 seconds.

1. Press the 'MIN | SEC' button repeatedly to cycle through the minutes and seconds. Each press will increment the displayed time.
2. Hold down the 'MIN | SEC' button to rapidly advance the time.
3. Once the desired time is set, press the Play/Stop button (triangle and square icon) to start the countdown.

Starting and Stopping the Timer

• To start the countdown, press the Play/Stop button (triangle and square icon).
• To pause the countdown, press the Play/Stop button again. The display will flash.
• To resume the countdown, press the Play/Stop button once more.

Resetting the Timer

To clear the current time setting and reset the timer to '00:00', press and hold the Play/Stop button for approximately 3 seconds while the timer is paused or counting down.

Alert Features

• Continuous Ring: When the timer reaches zero, it will emit a continuous audible alarm. This alarm will not automatically shut off, ensuring you are alerted until you manually stop it.
• Red LED Light: A red LED light will flash when the timer reaches zero, providing a visual alert in addition to the audible alarm.

Volume Control

The timer features a volume control button (speaker icon) to adjust the loudness of the alarm, up to 95 decibels. Press this button to cycle through available volume levels.

Maintenance

Cleaning

To clean your timer, wipe it with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or immerse the timer in water. Ensure the timer is dry before storage or next use.

Battery Replacement

When the display becomes dim or the timer functions erratically, it is time to replace the batteries. Follow the battery installation steps outlined in the 'Setup' section.

Troubleshooting

• Timer not turning on or display is blank:
  Check if the batteries are installed correctly with the correct polarity. Replace the batteries with fresh AAA batteries.
• Timer not counting down:
  Ensure the timer is not paused. Press the Play/Stop button to resume. If the timer is at '00:00', set a new time and press Play/Stop.
• Alarm is too quiet or not sounding:
  Press the volume control button (speaker icon) to increase the volume. Ensure the timer is not in a silent mode if such a feature exists (though this model has continuous ring).
• Inaccurate timing:
  This is unlikely with digital timers. If you suspect inaccuracy, try replacing the batteries.
