1. Introduction
This manual provides comprehensive instructions for the safe and efficient operation, setup, maintenance, and troubleshooting of your PHILIPS 3200 Series Fully Automatic Espresso Machine with LatteGo (Model EP3246/74). Please read all instructions carefully before first use and retain this manual for future reference.

2. Important Safety Information
Always follow basic safety precautions when using electrical appliances to reduce the risk of fire, electric shock, and/or injury to persons. This appliance is intended for household use only.
- Read all instructions.
- Do not touch hot surfaces. Use handles or knobs.
- To protect against fire, electric shock, and injury to persons, do not immerse cord, plugs, or appliance in water or other liquid.
- Close supervision is necessary when any appliance is used by or near children.
- Unplug from outlet when not in use and before cleaning. Allow to cool before putting on or taking off parts, and before cleaning the appliance.
- Do not operate any appliance with a damaged cord or plug or after the appliance malfunctions, or has been damaged in any manner. Return appliance to the nearest authorized service facility for examination, repair, or adjustment.
- The use of accessory attachments not recommended by the appliance manufacturer may result in fire, electric shock, or injury to persons.
- Do not use outdoors.
- Do not let cord hang over edge of table or counter, or touch hot surfaces.
- Do not place on or near a hot gas or electric burner, or in a heated oven.
- Always attach plug to appliance first, then plug cord into the wall outlet. To disconnect, turn any control to "off", then remove plug from wall outlet.
- Do not use appliance for other than intended use.
3. Setup
3.1 Unpacking and Initial Cleaning
- Carefully remove all packaging materials.
- Wash the LatteGo milk carafe, drip tray, and coffee grounds container with warm water and mild detergent. Rinse thoroughly and dry.
- Wipe the exterior of the machine with a soft, damp cloth.
3.2 Filling the Water Tank
- Pull the water tank out from the right side of the machine.
- Fill the tank with fresh tap water up to the MAX indication.
- Slide the water tank back into the machine until it clicks into place.

3.3 Adding Coffee Beans
- Open the coffee bean hopper lid on top of the machine.
- Pour fresh coffee beans into the hopper. Ensure the lid is closed properly after filling to maintain bean freshness.

3.4 Attaching the LatteGo System
- Fill the LatteGo carafe with milk up to the desired level.
- Attach the LatteGo carafe to the machine by hooking it onto the spout on the left side.
Video 1: This video demonstrates the simple attachment of the LatteGo milk carafe to the Philips espresso machine. The user fills the carafe with milk and then easily clips it onto the side spout.
4. Operating Instructions
4.1 Turning On the Machine
Press the power button on the control panel to turn on the machine. The machine will perform an automatic rinse cycle.
4.2 Selecting a Drink
The control panel offers various drink options. Simply tap the icon for your desired beverage:
- Espresso: For a concentrated coffee shot.
- Coffee: For a standard black coffee.
- Americano: Espresso diluted with hot water.
- Cappuccino: Espresso with frothed milk and a layer of foam.
- Latte Macchiato: Layered drink with milk, espresso, and foam.
- Hot Water: For tea or other hot beverages.

4.3 Customizing Your Drink
After selecting a drink, you can customize its settings using the "My Coffee Choice" icons:
- Coffee Strength: Adjust the intensity of your coffee (e.g., mild, medium, strong).
- Coffee Volume: Change the amount of coffee dispensed.
- Milk Volume: For milk-based drinks, adjust the amount of frothed milk.
4.4 Dispensing Your Drink
- Place your cup under the dispensing spout. Adjust the spout height to fit your cup size.
- For milk-based drinks, ensure the LatteGo carafe is correctly attached and the milk spout is positioned over your cup.
- Press the Play/Start button to begin brewing.

5. Maintenance
Regular maintenance ensures optimal performance and longevity of your espresso machine.
5.1 Daily Cleaning
- LatteGo System: After each milk-based drink, detach the LatteGo carafe and rinse it under running water. It is dishwasher-safe.
- Drip Tray & Coffee Grounds Container: Empty and rinse daily.
5.2 Weekly Cleaning
- Brew Group: Remove the brew group (located behind the water tank) and rinse it thoroughly under running water. Allow it to air dry before reinserting.

5.3 Descaling and AquaClean Filter
The machine will prompt you when descaling is required. Use only Philips descaling solution. The AquaClean filter reduces the need for descaling. Replace the filter when prompted by the machine.
- Up to 5000 cups without descaling thanks to AquaClean filter.
6. Troubleshooting
Here are solutions for common issues you might encounter:
