Important Safety Instructions

  • Always use oven mitts or pot holders when handling the hot caldero or its lid, as handles and knob will become hot during use.
  • Do not leave the caldero unattended on a heat source, especially when empty, as overheating can damage the nonstick coating.
  • Avoid using metal utensils on the nonstick surface to prevent scratches. Use wooden, silicone, or plastic utensils.
  • Keep the caldero out of reach of children during and after cooking until it has cooled down completely.
  • Exercise caution when removing the lid, as steam can escape and cause burns.
  • This product contains Stainless Steel (Chromium Total, Chromium Compounds, Nickel & Nickel Compounds, Iron, Manganese and manganese compounds, Phosphorus, Copper), Aluminum, and PFAS chemicals. For more information about the chemicals in this product, visit imusausa.com/commitment.

Before First Use

  2. Wash the caldero and lid thoroughly with warm, soapy water.
  3. Rinse completely and dry immediately with a soft cloth to prevent water spots.

Usage Instructions

Stovetop Cooking

  • Place the caldero on a burner that matches the size of its base to ensure even heating and energy efficiency.
  • Use low to medium heat settings for most cooking tasks. High heat is generally not necessary due to the caldero's excellent heat distribution and can damage the nonstick coating over time.
  • A small amount of cooking oil or butter is recommended for optimal nonstick performance and flavor, though the nonstick surface allows for cooking with minimal fat.

Oven Cooking

  • The IMUSA Mini Nonstick Caldero is oven safe. Ensure the lid is securely placed if using it in the oven.
  • Always use oven mitts when placing into or removing from a hot oven.

Using the Lid

  • The tight-fitting lid helps to retain moisture and flavor during cooking, making it ideal for simmering, braising, and slow cooking.
  • The aluminum knob on the lid will become hot; always use protection when handling.

Care and Maintenance

Cleaning

  • Allow the caldero to cool completely before washing. Submerging a hot pan in cold water can cause warping.
  • Hand wash with warm, soapy water and a soft sponge or cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners, scouring pads, or steel wool, as these can damage the nonstick coating.
  • The caldero is not dishwasher safe. Hand washing is recommended to preserve the nonstick surface and overall finish.
  • For stubborn food residue, soak the caldero in warm, soapy water for a few minutes before cleaning.

Storage

  • Store the caldero in a dry place.
  • If stacking with other cookware, place a soft cloth or pan protector between the caldero and other items to prevent scratches to the nonstick surface.

Troubleshooting

  • Food Sticking: Ensure you are using a small amount of oil or butter. Avoid high heat, which can degrade the nonstick coating over time. Check for scratches on the nonstick surface; deep scratches can impair performance.
  • Uneven Heating: Verify that the caldero is placed on a burner that matches its base size. Ensure the heat source is consistent.
  • Discoloration: Minor discoloration can occur over time with regular use, especially if exposed to very high heat. This typically does not affect cooking performance.
