- Unpack and Position: Remove all packaging materials. Place the espresso machine on a dry, stable, and level surface near a power outlet. Ensure adequate ventilation around the machine.
- Clean Components: Wash the water tank, portafilter, filter baskets, and drip tray with warm, soapy water. Rinse thoroughly and dry.

4. Operating Instructions
4.1 Making Espresso
The Laekerrt CMEP01 features a 20-bar pressure pump and PID precise temperature control for optimal espresso extraction.

Figure 4.1: Visual guide to making espresso and cappuccino, illustrating filling the water tank, adding and tamping coffee grounds, brewing espresso, and frothing milk.
- Preheat: Ensure the machine is plugged in and powered on. Wait for the indicator lights to stop flashing, indicating the machine has reached the optimal brewing temperature.
- Prepare Coffee Grounds: Use freshly ground coffee. For best results, a fine grind suitable for espresso is recommended.
- Fill Portafilter: Insert either the one-cup or two-cup filter basket into the 51mm portafilter. Add the desired amount of ground coffee.
- Tamp Coffee: Use the included tamper to press the coffee grounds firmly and evenly into the filter basket. Ensure the surface is level.
- Attach Portafilter: Align the portafilter with the brew head and twist it firmly to the right until it is securely locked in place.
- Place Cup: Position your espresso cup(s) on the drip tray directly under the portafilter spouts. The cup warming grill on top can preheat your cups.
- Brew Espresso: Press the single cup button for one shot or the double cup button for two shots. The machine will automatically stop when the brewing cycle is complete.
- Remove Portafilter: Once brewing is finished, carefully twist the portafilter to the left to remove it. Dispose of the used coffee grounds.

4.2 Using the Steam Wand for Milk Frothing
The stainless-steel steam wand allows you to create rich, dense, and creamy froth for lattes and cappuccinos.
- Prepare Milk: Fill a stainless steel frothing pitcher with cold milk (dairy or non-dairy) to just below the spout.
- Activate Steam: Turn the steam control knob to the steam position. Wait for the steam indicator light to illuminate steadily, indicating the steam function is ready.
- Purge Steam Wand: Before frothing, briefly open the steam valve to release any condensed water. Close the valve immediately.
- Froth Milk: Immerse the tip of the steam wand just below the surface of the milk. Slowly open the steam valve. Move the pitcher up and down to incorporate air and create foam. Once the desired texture and temperature are reached, close the steam valve and remove the pitcher.
- Clean Steam Wand: Immediately after frothing, wipe the steam wand with a damp cloth to remove any milk residue. Then, briefly open the steam valve again for 3 seconds to clear any milk from inside the wand. This prevents blockages.

5. Maintenance and Cleaning
Regular cleaning and maintenance ensure the longevity and optimal performance of your espresso machine.
- Daily Cleaning:
- Portafilter and Filter Baskets: After each use, remove the portafilter, discard coffee grounds, and rinse the portafilter and filter basket under running water.
- Drip Tray: Empty and rinse the detachable drip tray daily or when the indicator floats.
- Steam Wand: Always clean the steam wand immediately after use as described in Section 4.2.
- Water Tank: Clean the water tank weekly with mild detergent and rinse thoroughly. Refill with fresh water.
- Exterior: Wipe the exterior of the machine with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or scouring pads.
- Descaling: Over time, mineral deposits can build up in the machine. Descale your machine every 2-3 months, or more frequently if you have hard water. Use a commercial descaling solution designed for espresso machines and follow the product's instructions.
6. Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues with your Laekerrt CMEP01, refer to the following common problems and solutions.
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Machine not turning on or indicator lights flashing for a long time. | Not plugged in, power switch off, or machine is preheating. | Ensure the machine is properly plugged in and the power switch is on. Allow adequate time for preheating (lights will stop flashing when ready). |
| No water or coffee dispensing. | Water tank empty, tank not seated correctly, or machine not primed. | Check water level and refill if necessary. Ensure the water tank is securely in place. Perform initial priming steps (Section 3). |
| Espresso brews too slowly or not at all. | Coffee grounds too fine, tamped too hard, or filter basket/brew head is clogged. | Use a slightly coarser grind. Tamp with less pressure. Clean the filter basket and brew head. Descale the machine if necessary. |
| Espresso brews too quickly or is watery. | Coffee grounds too coarse, not enough coffee, or tamped too lightly. | Use a finer grind. Ensure adequate coffee quantity. Tamp more firmly and evenly. |
| Steam wand not producing steam or only water. | Steam wand clogged with milk residue, or machine not at steaming temperature. | Clean the steam wand thoroughly after each use. Purge the wand before frothing. Allow the machine to fully heat for steam (steam indicator light steady). |
