Setup and Installation
Proper installation is crucial for the safety of the child. Follow these steps carefully:
- Prepare the Seat: Ensure your child's seat (high chair, stroller, etc.) has appropriate slots or openings for the harness straps to pass through. The belt needs to be wrapped around a tube or column for secure attachment.
- Install Shoulder Straps: Thread the two shoulder straps through the designated slots at the back of the seat, ensuring they come out over the child's shoulders. Adjust the length as needed using the sliders.
- Install Waist Straps: Thread the two waist straps through the slots at the sides of the seat, ensuring they wrap around the child's waist area.
- Install Crotch Strap: Thread the crotch strap through the slot between the child's legs.
- Assemble Buckle: Connect the shoulder and waist strap ends to the central buckle mechanism. The crotch strap is typically permanently attached to the central buckle.
- Adjust for Fit: Once all straps are threaded, place the child in the seat and adjust each strap individually to achieve a snug but comfortable fit. The harness should be tight enough so that you cannot pinch any excess webbing at the child's shoulder.

Operating Instructions
To use the harness effectively and safely:
- Fastening: After placing the child in the seat, bring the two waist strap clips and the two shoulder strap clips together and insert them into the central buckle until they click securely into place.
- Adjusting: Pull on the loose ends of the straps to tighten the harness around the child. Ensure the straps are snug against the child's body without causing discomfort.
- Unfastening: To release the child, press the red button on the central buckle. The clips will release, allowing you to remove the child from the seat.
- Converting to 3-point or 2-point: The shoulder straps can be detached from the central buckle if a 3-point or 2-point harness configuration is desired for specific applications. Reattach them when a 5-point harness is required.

Maintenance
To ensure the longevity and hygiene of your PCTC Universal 5 Point Harness Belt:
- Cleaning: Wipe the nylon straps and plastic buckles with a damp cloth and mild soap. Do not use harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners. Allow to air dry completely before re-use.
- Storage: Store the harness in a clean, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures when not in use.
- Inspection: Periodically check all straps, buckles, and adjusters for any signs of fraying, cracks, or other damage. Ensure all components function smoothly.
Troubleshooting
If you encounter any issues with your harness, consider the following:
- Harness feels loose: Re-check all strap adjustments. Ensure the straps are threaded correctly through the adjusters and pulled snug. Refer to the 'Setup and Installation' section.
- Buckle not fastening: Ensure all four clips (from shoulder and waist straps) are properly aligned and inserted into the central buckle until a distinct 'click' is heard. Check for any debris obstructing the buckle mechanism.
- Difficulty releasing buckle: Press the red button firmly and completely. If still difficult, check for any foreign objects or damage to the buckle.
- Straps slipping: Ensure the straps are correctly threaded through the adjusters and that the adjusters are not damaged. The friction of the webbing through the adjuster should hold the strap in place.
