5. Maintenance
5.1 Cleaning
Regularly inspect the flow meter for any debris or mineral buildup, especially around the connections and the internal impeller. Clean with a soft brush and water if necessary. Avoid using harsh chemicals.
5.2 Battery Replacement
When the display indicates low battery, replace the CR2032 battery following the steps in Section 3.1. Prompt battery replacement ensures continuous and accurate data collection.
5.3 Winterization
For outdoor use in freezing climates, disconnect the flow meter from the spigot and hose before the first frost. Store the unit indoors in a dry, protected area to prevent damage from freezing water.
6. Troubleshooting
6.1 Leaks
If leaks occur at the connections:
- Ensure all connections are tightened securely.
- Check the rubber washers (gaskets) inside the connectors. Replace if they are worn or damaged.
- Consider using plumber's tape (Teflon tape) on threaded connections for an improved seal.
6.2 Inaccurate Readings
If you suspect inaccurate readings:
- Verify the flow meter is installed with the correct flow direction.
- Check for any obstructions inside the meter that might impede the impeller.
- Use the in-app calibration feature (Section 4.2) to adjust the reading if needed.
6.3 Connectivity Issues
If the device is not connecting to the app:
- Ensure your smartphone's Bluetooth and WiFi are enabled.
- Verify the flow meter is within range of your WiFi router or the RAINPOINT hub.
- Check if the device batteries are charged.
- Restart the app and/or the flow meter.
