Operating Instructions

Radio Operation (AM/FM/NOAA Weather Band)

  1. Turn the Volume knob clockwise to power on the radio and adjust the volume.
  2. Select the desired band (AM, FM, or WB) using the Weather Band switch.
  3. Extend the telescopic antenna for better reception, especially for FM and Weather Band.
  4. Rotate the Tuning knob to find your desired station or NOAA weather channel. The "TUN" indicator light will illuminate when a strong signal is received.
  5. For NOAA Weather Band, tune to one of the seven standard frequencies: 162.400, 162.425, 162.450, 162.475, 162.500, 162.525, or 162.550 MHz.

Figure 4: Overview of the multiple power sources available for the radio.

  • USB-C Charging: As described in "Initial Charging" under Setup. This is the most efficient method.
  • Hand Crank:
    • Unfold the hand crank handle from the back of the radio.
    • Rotate the handle clockwise or counter-clockwise at a steady pace (approximately 130-150 RPM) for 3-5 minutes to generate power for short-term use or to trickle charge the internal battery.
  • Solar Panel:
    • Place the radio with the solar panel facing direct sunlight.
    • The solar panel provides a slow, continuous charge to the internal battery. This method is ideal for maintaining charge or for emergency trickle charging over longer periods.
  • AA Batteries: If installed, the radio can draw power from the AA batteries when the internal rechargeable battery is depleted or switched off.

Maintenance

  • Cleaning: Wipe the radio with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners.
  • Storage: Store the radio in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures. If storing for an extended period, fully charge the internal battery every 3-6 months to maintain battery health.
  • Water Resistance: The radio is IPX3 water resistant, meaning it is protected against spraying water. Do not submerge the radio in water or expose it to heavy rain.

Troubleshooting

ProblemPossible CauseSolution
Radio does not turn on.Internal battery is depleted; AA batteries are depleted or not installed correctly.Charge the internal battery via USB-C, hand crank, or solar. Check and replace AA batteries if using them.
Poor radio reception.Antenna not extended; weak signal area; interference.Fully extend the telescopic antenna. Adjust the radio's position. Try tuning slowly.
External device not charging.Radio's internal battery is low; charging cable is faulty; device is not compatible.Ensure the radio's internal battery is sufficiently charged. Try a different USB charging cable. Verify device compatibility.
Hand crank or solar charging is slow. These methods are designed for trickle charging or emergency power, not rapid charging. This is normal operation. For faster charging, use the USB-C input.
