1. Product Overview

The Skullcandy Terrain XL is a portable wireless Bluetooth speaker designed for robust audio performance in various environments. It features IPX7 waterproofing, an 18-hour battery life, and True Wireless Stereo (TWS) functionality, allowing connection with up to 99 other Skullcandy Multi-Link enabled speakers.

2. Setup

2.1 Charging the Speaker

Before first use, fully charge your Terrain XL speaker. Use the provided USB-C to USB-A charging cable.

1. Connect the USB-C end of the cable to the charging port on the speaker.
2. Connect the USB-A end of the cable to a compatible USB power adapter (not included) or a computer USB port.
3. The LED indicators on the speaker will show charging status. A full charge provides up to 18 hours of playtime.

2.2 Initial Bluetooth Pairing

Pair your Terrain XL speaker with your Bluetooth-enabled device (smartphone, tablet, etc.) to begin audio playback.

1. Power On: Press and hold the Power button on the speaker until you hear an audible cue and the LED indicator flashes.
2. Enter Pairing Mode: The speaker will automatically enter Bluetooth pairing mode when powered on for the first time. If not, or to pair with a new device, press and hold the Bluetooth button until the LED flashes rapidly.
3. Enable Bluetooth on Device: On your device, go to Bluetooth settings and ensure Bluetooth is enabled.
4. Select Speaker: Look for "Skullcandy Terrain XL" in the list of available devices and select it to connect.
5. Confirmation: Once connected, you will hear an audible confirmation, and the LED indicator will turn solid blue.

3. Operating Instructions

3.1 Power On/Off

• To Power On: Press and hold the Power button for approximately 2 seconds.
• To Power Off: Press and hold the Power button for approximately 2 seconds.

3.2 Volume Control

• Increase Volume: Press the '+' button.
• Decrease Volume: Press the '-' button.

3.3 Playback Control

• Play/Pause: Press the Play/Pause button once.
• Next Track: Double-press the Play/Pause button.
• Previous Track: Triple-press the Play/Pause button.

3.4 Skullcandy Multi-Link™ Feature

The Terrain XL speaker supports Multi-Link technology, allowing you to connect up to 99 Skullcandy speakers for a synchronized audio experience.

1. Ensure all speakers you wish to link are powered on and within range.
2. Connect your primary device to one Terrain XL speaker via Bluetooth (as described in Section 2.2). This will be your primary speaker.
3. On the primary speaker, press the Multi-Link button once. The LED will flash to indicate it's searching for other speakers.
4. On each additional Skullcandy Multi-Link enabled speaker, press the Multi-Link button once.
5. Speakers will automatically connect. An audible cue will confirm successful linking.

3.5 IPX7 Waterproof Rating

The Terrain XL speaker is rated IPX7 waterproof, meaning it can be submerged in water up to 1 meter (3 feet) for up to 30 minutes. This makes it suitable for use near pools, beaches, or in rainy conditions.

• Ensure the charging port cover is securely closed before exposing the speaker to water.
• After exposure to water, dry the speaker thoroughly before charging.

4. Maintenance

4.1 Cleaning

• Wipe the speaker with a soft, damp cloth.
• Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
• Ensure the charging port is dry and free of debris before charging.

4.2 Storage

• Store the speaker in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
• If storing for an extended period, charge the battery to approximately 50% every few months to maintain battery health.

4.3 Battery Care

• Avoid fully discharging the battery frequently.
• Do not expose the battery to excessive heat.
• Use only the provided charging cable or a certified equivalent.

5. Troubleshooting

• No Power: Ensure the speaker is charged. Connect it to a power source using the USB-C cable.
• No Sound: Check the volume level on both the speaker and your connected device. Ensure the speaker is properly paired via Bluetooth.
• Pairing Issues: Turn off and on your device's Bluetooth. Forget the speaker from your device's Bluetooth list and attempt to re-pair. Ensure the speaker is in pairing mode (rapidly flashing LED).
• Poor Sound Quality: Ensure the speaker is within Bluetooth range of your device. Obstacles can affect signal quality. Some users have reported that a firmware update via the Skullcandy mobile app can improve sound quality.
• Multi-Link Not Connecting: Ensure all speakers are Skullcandy Multi-Link enabled. Follow the Multi-Link pairing steps carefully (Section 3.4).
