2. Pairing a Wireless Controller

The adapter supports various Bluetooth controllers, including PS3, PS4, PS5, Xbox One S, Xbox Series X/S, Wii/Wii U Pro, Switch Pro, Switch Joycon, 8bit-do, and Retro-Bit wireless controllers. Note that only official PS3/PS4 controllers are supported.

  1. After connecting the adapter and powering on the console, the adapter's LED will pulse red, indicating it is searching for a wireless controller.
  2. Put your desired wireless controller into pairing mode. The method varies by controller:
    • PS4/PS5 Controllers: Hold down the "Share" (PS4) or "Create" (PS5) button and the "PS" button simultaneously until the light bar flashes.
    • Xbox One S/Series X/S Controllers: Press the Xbox button to turn on the controller, then press and hold the small pairing button on the top edge of the controller until the Xbox button flashes rapidly.
    • Switch Pro Controller: Press and hold the SYNC button on the top of the controller until the player indicator lights begin to flash.
    • Other Controllers (e.g., 8bit-do, Retro-Bit): Refer to your controller's manual for specific pairing instructions.
  3. Once the controller is in pairing mode, the adapter will detect it. The adapter's LED will turn solid blue when a Bluetooth connection is successfully established.

  • Long press (10 seconds hold): Restores the adapter to its default configurations and clears all stored Bluetooth pairing keys.

Operating Instructions

1. General Use

Once your controller is successfully paired, you can use it to play GameCube games. The adapter provides zero latency and supports both BT Classic and BT Low Energy (BLE) for a stable connection.

Important: This adapter can only be connected to one wireless controller at a time.

2. Keymap Configuration

The key values of the buttons can be configured through the web Bluetooth port of Google Chrome. This allows for personalized button layouts to suit your preferences. For detailed instructions on using the web config tool, refer to the BlueRetro Web Config page.

3. Rumble Support

The adapter supports controller rumble, providing haptic feedback during gameplay, similar to original GameCube controllers.

4. Keyboard/Trackball/Mouse Support

The adapter also supports various console accessories such as keyboards, trackballs, and mice, expanding compatibility options for certain games or applications.

Maintenance

Firmware Upgrade

The BlueRetro adapter supports firmware upgrades, allowing for improved compatibility, new features, and bug fixes. It is recommended to keep your adapter's firmware updated to ensure optimal performance.

Firmware updates can be performed via the web Bluetooth interface using Google Chrome. Visit the official BlueRetro Firmware page to download the latest firmware files and follow the instructions provided on the BlueRetro OTA FW update page.

Troubleshooting

  • Controller Not Pairing:
    • Ensure the adapter's LED is pulsing red, indicating it's in search mode. If not, short press the 'BOOT' button to initiate a new pairing.
    • Verify your controller is in its correct pairing mode (refer to controller's manual).
    • Try resetting the adapter by holding the 'BOOT' button for 10 seconds to clear all previous pairings.
  • Buttons Not Working or Incorrect Mapping (8bit-do M30 Controller):
    • The 8bit-do M30 controller is in joystick mode by default. To resolve button issues, press and hold the "Up" + "Select" keys on the controller for approximately 5 seconds to switch it to D-pad mode.
  • Bluetooth Connection Failure (RED LED FULLY ON):
    • This indicates a general Bluetooth failure. Try disconnecting and reconnecting the adapter to the console.
    • Ensure there are no other strong wireless interference sources nearby.
    • Perform a firmware update if available, as this may resolve underlying issues.
  • Only One Controller Connects:
    • The BlueRetro NGC Wireless Controller Adapter is designed to connect to one wireless controller at a time. This is a design limitation, not a fault.
