Setup and Installation

Follow these steps to set up your ALE-20h Deskphone:

1. Connect the Handset: Plug the coiled cord from the handset into the designated port on the left side of the phone base.
2. Connect the Line Cord: For digital connections, plug the line cord into the "LINE" port. For IP connections, plug an Ethernet cable into the "LAN" port.
3. Connect Power (if applicable): If your phone does not receive Power over Ethernet (PoE), connect the power adapter to the "POWER" port and then to a wall outlet.
4. Connect PC (Optional): If you wish to connect a computer through the phone, plug an Ethernet cable from your PC into the "PC" port on the phone.
5. Position the Phone: Place the phone on a stable, flat surface.

Operating Instructions

Keypad and Navigation

The phone features a standard numeric keypad and dedicated function keys.

• Numeric Keypad (0-9, *, #): Used for dialing numbers and entering text.
• Navigation Cluster (Up, Down, Left, Right, OK): Used to navigate menus and confirm selections on the display.
• Soft Keys: Context-sensitive buttons located directly below the display, their function changes based on the current menu or call state.
• Volume Control (+/-): Adjusts handset, speakerphone, or ringer volume.
• Mute Button: Mutes the microphone during a call.
• Speakerphone Button: Toggles speakerphone mode on/off.
• Headset Button: Activates headset mode.
• Redial Button: Dials the last number called.

Making and Receiving Calls

1. To Make a Call:
   • Pick up the handset, press the speakerphone button, or press the headset button.
   • Dial the desired number using the numeric keypad.
   • Press the Call button (green phone icon) or wait for the call to connect automatically.
2. To Answer a Call:
   • When the phone rings, pick up the handset, press the speakerphone button, or press the headset button.
3. To End a Call:
   • Place the handset back in the cradle, or press the speakerphone/headset button again.

Maintenance and Care

Proper maintenance ensures the longevity and optimal performance of your desk phone.

• Cleaning: Use a soft, damp cloth to clean the phone's surface. Avoid abrasive cleaners or solvents. Do not spray liquids directly onto the phone.
• Handset Cord: Periodically check the coiled handset cord for tangles or damage.
• Environment: Keep the phone away from excessive heat, direct sunlight, and moisture.
