1. Setup

1.1 What's Included

Before beginning installation, ensure all components are present:

1.3 Installation Steps

The HEI LIANG Smart Door Knob is designed for easy installation on US standard doors (1.18"-2.17" thick). Follow these steps:

1. Prepare the Door: Ensure your door's bore hole and backset are compatible. The lock fits 2-3/8" or 2-3/4" (60mm or 70mm) backsets and 1-1/2" or 2-1/8" (38mm or 55mm) cross bore holes. Refer to the installation template for precise measurements.
2. Install the Latch: Insert the latch mechanism into the door edge, ensuring the bevel faces the door frame. Secure it with screws.
3. Install Exterior Assembly: Feed the cable from the exterior knob through the bore hole and align the spindle with the latch. Ensure the 'UP' sign on the exterior knob is facing upwards.
4. Install Interior Assembly: Connect the cable from the exterior assembly to the interior assembly. Align the interior knob with the spindle and secure both assemblies with the provided mounting screws.
5. Test Operation: Before closing the door, test the mechanical operation of the knob.
6. Initial Charging: The lock has a built-in 400mAh rechargeable battery. Fully charge the device for 3-4 hours using the provided USB-A to Type-C cable before first use. A low battery warning activates at 15% capacity.

1.4 App Download and Pairing

Download the companion app (e.g., Tuya Smart or Smart Life app) from your device's app store. Follow the in-app instructions to pair your smart door knob via Bluetooth. Wi-Fi settings and remote access features may require an additional gateway (sold separately).

2. Operating Instructions

2.1 Unlocking Methods

• Fingerprint Recognition: Place your registered finger on the fingerprint sensor on the exterior knob. The lock will unlock in approximately 0.5 seconds if the fingerprint is recognized. The LED indicator will confirm successful unlock. The lock can store up to 20 fingerprints.
• App Control: Use the paired mobile app to remotely lock or unlock the door. This method provides convenience and allows for remote access management.
• Mechanical Key: In case of battery depletion or other issues, a hidden mechanical keyhole provides a backup entry method. Insert and turn the key to unlock.

2.2 App Features and Management

The mobile app provides comprehensive control and monitoring capabilities:

• User Management: Add or delete fingerprints for authorized users. Up to 20 fingerprints can be stored.
• Access Logs: View real-time unlock records and traffic patterns, providing a history of who accessed the door and when.
• Automatic Locking: Configure the lock to automatically lock within 5 seconds after being opened, enhancing security.
• Temporary Access Codes: Create time-limited access codes for guests or service providers (e.g., 12 hours, 3 days, 1 week options).
• Intrusion Alerts: Receive notifications on your smartphone for any attempted unauthorized access.
• Passage Mode: Enable passage mode for continuous unlocked access, useful for events or when frequent entry/exit is needed.

3.1 Cleaning

The smart door knob is powered by a built-in 400mAh rechargeable battery. A full charge typically lasts approximately 8 months, depending on usage frequency.

• Charging: When the battery level is low (at 15% capacity), the lock will provide a visual battery display and an audible low battery alarm. Connect the provided USB-A to Type-C cable to the charging port on the knob and a power source (e.g., USB charger, power bank) for 3-4 hours to fully recharge.
• Battery Life: Regular charging ensures uninterrupted operation.
