4. Setup Instructions
4.1. Assembly
- Attach the appropriate inlet and outlet fittings to the pump. Ensure O-rings are properly seated to prevent leaks.
- Connect the pump cable to the designated port on the LCD display controller. Ensure the connection is secure and fully seated.
- Connect the power adapter cable to the LCD display controller.
4.2. Installation
The EP-8500M pump can be used either submerged in water or externally (in-line).
Submersible Installation:
- Place the pump securely at the desired location within your sump or aquarium. Ensure it is stable and not prone to tipping.
- Connect the outlet fitting to your plumbing (e.g., return line to the display tank).
External (In-line) Installation:
- Mount the pump on a stable, level surface outside the aquarium.
- Connect both the inlet and outlet fittings to your aquarium plumbing using appropriate tubing and clamps. Ensure all connections are watertight.
- The pump must be primed before starting. Ensure water flows into the pump inlet before powering on.
4.3. Power Connection
Plug the power adapter into a grounded electrical outlet. The LCD display on the controller should illuminate.
5. Operating Instructions
5.1. Manual Controller Operation
The LCD display controller allows for direct control of the pump's flow rate and modes.
- Power Button: Press to turn the pump ON/OFF.
- Flow Adjustment: Use the '+' and '-' buttons to increase or decrease the flow rate. The LCD will display the current power level or flow percentage.
- Feed Mode: Press the 'Feed' button to temporarily pause the pump for feeding. The pump will resume operation after a set period (usually 10 minutes) or by pressing the 'Feed' button again.
- Mode Button: Cycle through different operating modes (if available), such as constant flow or wave-making functions (refer to controller specific icons).
5.2. Wi-Fi App Control
The Jebao EP Smart DC Pump can be controlled via the Jebao App on your smartphone (iOS or Android).
- Download App: Download the 'Jebao' app from your device's app store.
- Wi-Fi Connection: Ensure your smartphone is connected to a 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network. The pump does not support 5GHz networks.
- Pairing: Follow the in-app instructions to add your device. This typically involves putting the controller into pairing mode (often by holding a button for a few seconds until an indicator light flashes) and connecting to the pump's temporary Wi-Fi hotspot (AP mode) or connecting it to your home Wi-Fi network.
- Control: Once paired, you can control the pump's flow rate, set schedules, and access advanced features directly from the app.
6. Maintenance
Regular maintenance is crucial for the longevity and optimal performance of your Jebao EP Smart DC Pump.
- Disconnect Power: Always unplug the pump from the power outlet before performing any maintenance.
- Disassembly: Carefully disconnect the pump from your plumbing. Twist and pull the pump housing to expose the impeller chamber.
- Impeller Cleaning: Remove the impeller and clean it thoroughly with a soft brush under running water. Remove any debris, algae, or calcium buildup.
- Pump Chamber Cleaning: Clean the inside of the pump chamber and the volute with a brush.
- Reassembly: Reassemble the pump in reverse order, ensuring all parts are correctly seated and O-rings are in place.
- Frequency: Perform cleaning every 1-3 months, depending on your aquarium's bioload and water conditions.
7. Troubleshooting
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Pump not running | No power; Controller disconnected; Impeller blocked; No water detected. | Check power connection; Ensure controller cable is secure; Clean impeller; Ensure pump is submerged or primed for external use. |
| Low flow rate | Impeller dirty/blocked; Kinked tubing; Incorrect flow setting; Air in pump (external use). | Clean impeller; Check tubing for obstructions; Increase flow setting on controller/app; Re-prime pump. |
| Unusual noise/vibration | Impeller damaged or dirty; Air trapped in pump; Improper installation. | Clean/inspect impeller for damage; Ensure pump is fully submerged or properly primed; Check for secure mounting. |
| Wi-Fi connection issues | Incorrect Wi-Fi band (5GHz); Incorrect password; Router too far; Pairing mode not activated. | Ensure 2.4GHz Wi-Fi; Verify password; Move router closer or use AP mode; Follow app pairing instructions carefully. |
