Product Overview

The APC Back-UPS Pro Gaming UPS (Uninterruptible Power Supply) is a line-interactive sine wave UPS designed to provide reliable power protection for gaming consoles and PC gaming environments. It combines surge protection and Automatic Voltage Regulation (AVR) with battery backup capabilities. This unit features an interactive LCD display, customizable ambient LED lighting, and multiple USB charging ports, ensuring continuous power and device charging during outages or power fluctuations.

Setup Instructions

1. Unpack and Inspect:

   Carefully remove the UPS from its packaging. Inspect the unit for any signs of damage. Retain packaging for future transport or storage.

2. Connect the Battery:

   The battery may be disconnected for shipping. Refer to the diagram below. Open the battery compartment and connect the internal battery terminals as indicated. Ensure a secure connection.

3. Placement:

   Place the UPS on a flat, stable surface away from direct sunlight, excessive heat, or moisture. Ensure adequate ventilation around the unit.

4. Connect to Wall Outlet:

   Plug the UPS power cord (6' with right-angle wall plug, NEMA 15-15P) directly into a grounded 3-prong wall outlet. Avoid using extension cords or surge protectors with the UPS input.

5. Connect Equipment:

   Connect your gaming PC, console, monitor, and other critical equipment to the 6 Battery Backup + Surge Protected outlets. Connect less critical peripherals (e.g., speakers, chargers) to the 4 Surge Protection Only outlets. The UPS provides 3 USB charging ports (2 Type-A, 1 Type-C) for charging mobile devices.

6. Connect Data and Coaxial Lines (Optional):

   For additional protection, connect your network cable (1 Gb dataline) and coaxial cables through the surge-protected ports on the rear of the UPS.

7. Initial Charge:

   Allow the UPS to charge for at least 24 hours before initial use to ensure full battery capacity.

Operating the UPS

Power On/Off

Press the power button located on the top panel to turn the UPS on or off. The LCD display will illuminate upon power-on.

Interactive LCD Display

The interactive LCD display provides real-time information about the UPS status, including load percentage, battery charge level, estimated runtime, and power conditions. The "Reactor Circle" around the display changes color to alert users of surges, dips, and remaining power, providing a quick visual indicator of power events.

Customizable RGB Ambient LED Lighting

The UPS features customizable RGB ambient LED lighting. Use the controls on the unit or associated software (if available) to adjust the color and brightness of the LED lights to match your gaming setup or personal preference. The LED colors may also change to indicate specific power events or alarms.

Automatic Voltage Regulation (AVR)

The AVR feature automatically corrects minor voltage fluctuations (sags and surges) without switching to battery power, preserving battery life and ensuring a stable power supply to connected equipment. This is particularly beneficial for sensitive electronics like gaming PCs and consoles.

USB Charging Ports

Utilize the two USB Type-A ports and one USB Type-C port (5V/3A shared) on the front of the unit to charge your mobile devices, controllers, or other USB-powered accessories.

Maintenance

Battery Replacement

The UPS features a user-replaceable battery (part # APCRBC163, sold separately). The typical lifespan of the battery is 3-5 years, depending on usage and environmental conditions. When the battery needs replacement, the UPS will indicate this on the LCD display and may emit an audible alarm. Refer to the full user guide for detailed battery replacement instructions.

Cleaning

Periodically clean the exterior of the UPS with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use liquid cleaners or aerosols. Ensure ventilation openings are free from dust and debris to maintain proper airflow.

Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your APC Back-UPS Pro Gaming UPS, consider the following common troubleshooting steps:

• No Power/Unit Not Turning On:

  Ensure the UPS power cord is securely plugged into a live, grounded wall outlet. Verify the wall outlet has power by plugging in another device. Check if the internal battery is properly connected.

• UPS Beeping/Alarming:

  Consult the LCD display for specific alarm codes or messages. Common alarms include low battery, overload, or internal fault. Address the indicated issue (e.g., reduce load, allow battery to charge).

• Connected Devices Not Receiving Power:

  Verify that devices are plugged into the correct outlets (battery backup vs. surge-only). Check the circuit breaker on the rear of the UPS; if tripped, reset it by pressing it in.

• Short Runtime on Battery:

  The battery may not be fully charged; allow it to charge for 24 hours. The battery may be nearing the end of its service life and require replacement (typical lifespan 3-5 years).
