4. Setup

4.1 Power Connection

  1. Connect the provided USB cable to the USB input port on the rear panel of the M300SE.
  2. Connect the other end of the USB cable to a power source (e.g., a computer USB port or a 5V USB power adapter).
  3. For optimal performance, especially when using high-impedance headphones, consider using the Auxiliary Power (5V) input with a dedicated 5V power adapter (not included).

4.2 Audio Input Connections

Choose one of the following input methods:

  • USB Input: Connect your computer or other USB audio source to the USB input port on the rear panel using the provided USB cable.
  • Optical Input: Connect an optical cable from your audio source to the Optical input port.

4.3 Audio Output Connections

  • Headphone Output: Connect your headphones to either the 6.35mm unbalanced jack or the 4.4mm balanced jack on the front panel.

5. Operating Instructions

5.1 Power On/Off

Press the Power Switch button on the front panel or the remote control to turn the device on or off.

5.2 Input Selection

Press the Input Mode Switch button on the front panel or the 'Input Switch' button on the remote control to cycle through USB, Optical, Coaxial, and Bluetooth inputs.

5.3 Volume Control

Rotate the Operation Knob on the front panel or use the VOL+ / VOL- buttons on the remote control to adjust the volume level.

5.4 Display Settings

The M300SE allows adjustment of display brightness and auto-off settings:

  • Brightness: Use the remote control to adjust the display brightness through 4 levels.
  • Auto-off: Configure the screen display auto-off timer via the menu.

5.5 Preamp Mode

The M300SE can function as a DAC with fixed output or as a preamplifier with volume control. This setting is accessible through the device menu or remote control.

  • Preamp Mode ON: The device acts as a preamplifier, allowing volume control of the line outputs (XLR/RCA).
  • Preamp Mode OFF (Pure DAC Mode): The line outputs provide a fixed, maximum level signal, and volume control is bypassed.

5.6 MQA Playback

The M300SE supports full MQA decoding via its USB input, and MQA-CD playback via optical and coaxial inputs. When playing MQA content, the display will indicate 'MQA' or 'MQA Studio'.

5.7 Bluetooth Pairing

To connect a Bluetooth device:

  1. Ensure the Bluetooth antenna is securely attached.
  2. Select Bluetooth as the input source on the M300SE. The display will show 'BT'.
  3. On your mobile device or computer, search for Bluetooth devices and select 'S.M.S.L M300SE'.
  4. Once paired, audio will stream wirelessly to the M300SE.

7. Troubleshooting
