3. Safety Information

  • Ensure the mounting surface is clean, dry, and free of dust or grease before application.
  • Avoid applying the adhesive pads or film in extreme temperatures (too cold or too hot) as this may affect adhesion.
  • Do not obstruct your view of the road or any vehicle controls when mounting your device.
  • Keep out of reach of children.

4. Installation Guide

This kit provides two primary components for mounting: the 3M VHB Double-Sided Adhesive Pad and the Electrostatic Film. For optimal results and easy removal, it is recommended to use both components together.

4.1. 3M VHB Double-Sided Adhesive Pad Installation

The 3M VHB tape provides a strong, long-lasting bond. It is designed to withstand various temperatures and conditions.

  1. Step 1: Prepare the Device Mount. Remove any previously used adhesive tape from the base surface of your dash cam mount or device. Ensure the surface is clean and dry.
  2. Step 2: Apply the VHB Tape. Peel off the yellow protective film from one side of the 3M VHB adhesive pad, exposing the sticky side. Carefully align and firmly press the adhesive pad onto the clean base surface of your dash cam mount.
  3. Step 3: Ensure Secure Bond. Press firmly on the adhesive pad for several seconds to ensure a strong and secure bond with the mount.
  4. Step 4: Allow Adhesion Time. For optimal adhesion, allow the adhesive pad to bond with the mount for approximately 2 hours before attaching it to the electrostatic film or windshield. The longer the adhesive time, the stronger the viscosity will be.

4.2. Electrostatic Film Installation

The electrostatic film allows for easy and residue-free removal of your dash cam mount from the windshield. It acts as a protective layer between the VHB tape and the glass.

  1. Step 1: Clean the Windshield. Thoroughly clean the area of your windshield where you intend to mount the device. Ensure it is free of dust, dirt, and grease.
  2. Step 2: Apply the Electrostatic Film. Peel off the red label protective film from the electrostatic film. Carefully attach the film to your car's windshield, ensuring it is smooth and free of air bubbles. Use a credit card or similar tool to smooth out any bubbles.
  3. Step 3: Attach the Dash Cam Mount. Peel off the black label protective film from the 3M VHB adhesive pad (which is already attached to your dash cam mount). Carefully align and attach the dash cam mount to the electrostatic film on the windshield.
  4. Step 4: Secure the Mount. Press the dash cam body firmly against the electrostatic film for about 30 seconds to ensure a secure attachment.

6. Maintenance

To ensure the longevity and effectiveness of your mounting kit:

  • Keep the adhesive pads and electrostatic film clean and free from dust or debris when not in use.
  • Store unused components in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.
  • If the electrostatic film loses its cling, gently clean it with a damp cloth and allow it to air dry.

7. Troubleshooting

ProblemPossible CauseSolution
Adhesive pad not sticking securely.Surface not clean, not enough pressure applied, insufficient curing time, extreme temperatures.Ensure surfaces are thoroughly cleaned and dry. Apply firm pressure for 30 seconds. Allow 2 hours for adhesive to cure before use. Apply in moderate temperatures.
Electrostatic film not clinging.Windshield surface is dirty, film is dirty, or air bubbles present.Clean windshield and film thoroughly. Reapply, smoothing out all air bubbles with a flat tool.
Residue left on windshield after removal.Electrostatic film was not used, or film was damaged.Always use the electrostatic film between the VHB adhesive and the windshield. If residue occurs, it can typically be removed with an adhesive remover or rubbing alcohol.
