Setup
1. Battery Installation and Charging
Ensure the battery is fully charged before first use. To install the battery, align the battery pack with the base of the tool and slide it in until it clicks securely into place. To remove, press the battery release button and slide the battery out. The included charger (DCB107) is compatible with 12V MAX* and 20V MAX* batteries. Simply slide the battery onto the charger until it clicks. The charger will indicate charging status with LED lights.
2. Bit Installation
To install a drill bit or driver bit, rotate the chuck counter-clockwise to open the jaws. Insert the bit into the chuck, ensuring it is seated firmly. Rotate the chuck clockwise to tighten the jaws around the bit. Hand-tighten the chuck for a secure grip.

Operating Instructions
1. Powering On/Off and Speed Control
The tool is activated by pressing the trigger switch. The speed is variable and controlled by the amount of pressure applied to the trigger. For slower speeds, apply less pressure; for faster speeds, apply more pressure. Release the trigger to turn off the tool.
2. 2-Speed Transmission
The DCD777D1 features a 2-speed transmission for versatility. Use speed setting '1' for high torque applications (e.g., driving large fasteners) and speed setting '2' for high-speed drilling applications. The speed selector switch is located on top of the tool.
3. Clutch/Torque Settings
The adjustable clutch ring allows you to select the appropriate torque setting for your application, preventing overtightening or stripping screws. Rotate the clutch ring to align the desired number with the arrow on the drill body. Higher numbers provide more torque. For drilling, select the drill icon setting.
4. Forward/Reverse Control
The forward/reverse button, located above the trigger, controls the direction of rotation. Push it to the left for forward rotation (drilling/driving) and to the right for reverse rotation (removing screws/bits). Center the button to lock the trigger and prevent accidental activation.
5. LED Work Light
The integrated LED light illuminates the work area for increased visibility in dimly lit spaces. It activates when the trigger is pressed and remains on for approximately 20 seconds after the trigger is released.

Maintenance
Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and optimal performance of your DEWALT drill. Keep the tool clean and free of debris. Periodically inspect the chuck for wear and ensure the battery contacts are clean. Store the tool and batteries in a dry, secure location away from extreme temperatures.
