6. Water Resistance Guidelines
Your SMAEL SL-8080 watch is water-resistant up to 50 meters (5 ATM). This means it is suitable for everyday use, including splashes, rain, and brief immersion in water. However, please observe the following precautions:
- Do NOT press any buttons underwater. Pressing buttons underwater can compromise the watch's water resistance seals.
- Avoid exposing the watch to hot water or steam (e.g., hot showers, saunas, hot tubs). Extreme temperature changes can cause the seals to expand and contract, leading to water ingress.
- Do not use the watch for diving or snorkeling.
- After exposure to saltwater, rinse the watch with fresh water and dry it thoroughly.

7. Maintenance
- Cleaning: Wipe the watch case and strap regularly with a soft, dry cloth. For stubborn dirt, use a slightly damp cloth and mild soap, then dry thoroughly.
- Avoid Chemicals: Do not expose the watch to solvents, detergents, perfumes, or cosmetic sprays, as these can damage the case, strap, or seals.
- Battery Replacement: When the display dims or the watch stops functioning, the battery may need replacement. It is recommended to have the battery replaced by a qualified watch technician to ensure the water resistance is maintained.
- Storage: Store your watch in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures when not in use.
8. Troubleshooting
- Digital Display is Blank or Dim:
- The battery may be low or depleted. Replace the battery.
- Ensure the watch has not been exposed to extreme temperatures or moisture that could affect the internal components.
- Analog Hands Not Moving:
- Check if the Pointer Adjustment crown is pushed in completely. If it's pulled out, the hands will not move.
- The battery for the analog movement might be depleted (some watches have separate batteries for analog and digital). Consult a technician.
- Time is Inaccurate:
- Re-set both the analog and digital times following the instructions in Section 4.
- Exposure to strong magnetic fields can affect watch accuracy. Keep the watch away from strong magnets.
- Water Inside the Watch:
- If you notice condensation or water droplets inside the watch, immediately take it to a professional watch repair service. Do not attempt to open it yourself, as this can cause further damage.
