4. Setup

4.1 Inserting the Repellent Cartridge

1. Ensure the device is turned off.
2. Remove the top cap of the device by twisting it counter-clockwise and lifting it off.
3. Insert the repellent cartridge into the opening, ensuring it is seated firmly.
4. Replace the top cap by aligning it and twisting clockwise until secure.

4.2 Charging the Device

The device comes with a partial charge, but it is recommended to fully charge it before first use.

1. Locate the charging port on the device.
2. Connect the small end of the USB charging cable to the device's charging port.
3. Connect the large end of the USB cable to a compatible USB power source (e.g., wall adapter, power bank, computer USB port).
4. The indicator lights will show charging status. A full charge typically takes 3-4 hours.

5. Operating Instructions

5.1 Turning On/Off

• To Turn On: Press and hold the power button for approximately 2 seconds. The indicator lights will illuminate, and the device will begin to heat up.
• To Turn Off: Press and hold the power button for approximately 2 seconds. The indicator lights will turn off.

5.2 Understanding Indicator Lights

The device features indicator lights to communicate its status:

• Solid Blue: Device is on and operating normally.
• Flashing Blue: Device is heating up or cooling down.
• Solid Red: Low battery.
• Flashing Red: Very low battery, device will soon shut off.
• Solid Green (during charging): Fully charged.
• Pulsing Green (during charging): Charging in progress.

5.3 Optimal Placement for Protection

For best results, place the Thermacell EX90 device on a flat surface in the center of your desired protection zone. Allow 10-15 minutes for the zone to fully establish. Avoid placing it in strong winds, as this can reduce effectiveness.

6. Maintenance

6.1 Cleaning

Periodically wipe the exterior of the device with a damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or immerse the device in water.

6.2 Repellent Cartridge Replacement

Replace the repellent cartridge when the liquid is depleted. A 12-hour cartridge provides 12 hours of protection. Follow the instructions in Section 4.1 for insertion.

6.3 Battery Care

To prolong battery life, avoid fully discharging the battery frequently. If storing the device for an extended period, charge it to approximately 50% every few months.
