  • Read all instructions.
  • Do not immerse the motor base in water or other liquid.
  • Unplug from outlet when not in use, before putting on or taking off parts, and before cleaning.

4.2 Blending Process

  1. Ensure the container is properly assembled on the motor base with ingredients, lid, and lid plug in place.
  2. Plug the blender into a grounded electrical outlet.
  3. Turn the Variable Speed Dial to setting 1.
  4. Flip the Start/Stop switch to the 'Start' position.
  5. Slowly increase the speed to your desired setting. For tough ingredients, gradually increase speed to prevent overloading.
  6. Use the tamper through the lid plug opening if ingredients need to be pushed towards the blades. Never use the tamper with the lid plug removed or if the tamper cannot move freely.
  7. When blending is complete, flip the Start/Stop switch to the 'Stop' position.
  8. Wait for the blades to stop completely before removing the lid.

4.3 Blending Tips

  • Always add liquids first, then soft ingredients (leafy greens), then hard ingredients (frozen fruit, ice).
  • Do not overfill the container.
  • For best results, start at a low speed and gradually increase to high.
  • If the blend stalls, use the tamper to push ingredients into the blades. If necessary, add more liquid.

5. Maintenance and Cleaning

Proper cleaning and maintenance will ensure the longevity and optimal performance of your Vitamix blender.

5.1 Self-Cleaning Method

  5. Run for 30-60 seconds.
  6. Rinse the container thoroughly with clean water.
