Always follow basic safety precautions when using power tools to reduce the risk of fire, electric shock, and personal injury. Keep this manual for future reference.
- Work Area Safety: Keep your work area clean and well-lit. Cluttered or dark areas invite accidents. Do not operate power tools in explosive atmospheres, such as in the presence of flammable liquids, gases, or dust.
- Electrical Safety: Avoid body contact with earthed or grounded surfaces. Do not expose power tools to rain or wet conditions.
- Personal Safety: Always wear eye protection. Use hearing protection when operating noisy tools. Dress properly; avoid loose clothing or jewelry. Secure long hair.
- Tool Use and Care: Do not force the power tool. Use the correct power tool for your application. Disconnect the battery pack from the power tool before making any adjustments, changing accessories, or storing power tools.
- Battery Tool Use and Care: Recharge only with the charger specified by the manufacturer. Use power tools only with specifically designated battery packs.

5. Operating Instructions
5.1 STANLEY FATMAX SFMCD711 18V Battery Hammer Drill
The SFMCD711 is a versatile 2-speed hammer drill designed for drilling into wood, metal, plastic, and masonry, as well as for driving screws.

Figure 2: STANLEY FATMAX SFMCD711 18V Battery Hammer Drill.
- Speed Selection: Use the gear selector switch on top of the drill to choose between Speed 1 (low speed, high torque for driving screws and larger drilling) and Speed 2 (high speed, lower torque for faster drilling).
- Torque Settings: The torque collar allows for 22-stage torque preselection. Rotate the collar to the desired setting for screwing applications to prevent over-tightening or stripping. For drilling, set the collar to the drill icon.
- Hammer Function: For drilling into masonry, rotate the collar to the hammer icon. This engages the percussion mechanism for rapid drilling in hard materials.
- Operation: Squeeze the trigger to start the drill. The integrated LED light will illuminate the work area. The variable speed trigger allows for precise control over drilling speed.

- Operation: Insert the appropriate 1/4 inch hex shank driver bit. Squeeze the trigger to start the impact driver. The integrated LED light will illuminate the work area. The impact mechanism engages automatically when resistance is met, providing high torque for driving fasteners.
- Forward/Reverse: Use the forward/reverse selector switch (typically above the trigger) to change the direction of rotation for driving or removing fasteners.

6. Maintenance
Regular maintenance ensures optimal performance and extends the life of your tools.
- Cleaning: Keep the ventilation slots of the tools clean to prevent overheating. Use a soft brush or compressed air to remove dust and debris. Do not use water or chemical cleaners.
- Battery Care: Store batteries in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Do not store fully discharged batteries for extended periods. Recharge them periodically if not in use.
- Accessory Inspection: Regularly inspect drill bits and driver bits for wear or damage. Replace worn accessories to maintain efficiency and safety.
