1. Safety Information

Please read these instructions carefully before installation and retain them for future reference. Failure to follow these instructions may result in electric shock, fire, or other hazards.

• Always turn off power at the circuit breaker before installation or servicing.
• Ensure all electrical connections comply with local codes and ordinances, as well as the National Electric Code (NEC).
• If you are unsure about wiring, consult a qualified electrician.
• Do not use with standard dimmers. This smart light is dimmable only via the Smart Life App or voice control.
• Suitable for wet locations and IC-rated for direct contact with insulation.

3. Installation

Tools Required:

• Pencil
• Measuring Tape
• Drywall Saw or Hole Saw
• Wire Strippers
• Safety Glasses

Installation Steps:

1. Turn Off Power: Ensure power is completely off at the circuit breaker before beginning installation.
2. Mark Cut-out: Use the provided template to mark the desired location for the light on the ceiling. The recommended cut-out diameter is approximately 6.22 inches (158mm).
3. Cut Hole: Carefully cut the marked hole in the ceiling using a drywall saw or hole saw.
4. Wiring the Junction Box:
   • Open the remote junction box cover.
   • Remove the appropriate knock-out(s) for your electrical wiring.
   • Insert the electrical supply cable (Romex) into the junction box and secure it with a Romex connector (not included).
   • Connect the wires using the provided quick connectors: Black to Black (Live), White to White (Neutral), Green to Green (Ground).
   • Close the junction box cover securely.
5. Connect Light to Junction Box: Plug the cable from the LED light fixture into the remote junction box. Ensure a secure connection.
6. Insert Junction Box: Place the remote junction box through the cut-out hole into the ceiling cavity.
7. Install Light Fixture: Push the spring clips on the sides of the light fixture upwards and insert the fixture into the cut-out hole. The clips will automatically secure the light flush against the ceiling.
8. Restore Power: Turn the power back on at the circuit breaker.

4. Operating Instructions

4.1 APP & Voice Control

1. Download App: Download the 'Smart Life' App (also known as 'Tuya Smart App') from your mobile device's app store (iOS 8.0+ / Android 4.1+).
2. Pairing: Ensure your mobile device is connected to a 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network. Follow the in-app instructions to pair your JULLISON smart light.
3. Voice Control: Once paired, you can control your smart recessed lights using voice commands with compatible smart assistants like Amazon Alexa or Google Home.

4.2 Color and Brightness Adjustment

• Tunable White: Adjust color temperatures from warm white (2700K) to cool daylight (6000K) via the Smart Life App or voice commands.
• RGB Color Changing: Access 16 million RGB colors to create various ambiances.
• Dimming: Dim the light from 1% to 100% brightness using the Smart Life App or voice control. Do not use with traditional wall dimmers.

4.3 Advanced Features (via Smart Life App)

• Group Control: Group multiple JULLISON smart lights to control them simultaneously for different room settings.

5. Maintenance

• Cleaning: To clean the light fixture, ensure power is off. Wipe with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
• No User-Serviceable Parts: The LED light source is integrated and not replaceable. Do not attempt to open or repair the fixture.

6. Troubleshooting

• Light Not Turning On:
  • Check if the power is on at the circuit breaker.
  • Verify all wiring connections in the junction box are secure.
  • Ensure the light fixture cable is properly plugged into the junction box.
• Connectivity Issues (App/Voice Control):
  • Confirm your Wi-Fi network is 2.4GHz. This device does not support 5GHz Wi-Fi.
  • Ensure your mobile device is connected to the same 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network during pairing.
  • Check the distance between the light and your Wi-Fi router. Move closer if necessary.
  • Restart the light by turning off and on the power at the switch or circuit breaker.
  • Reset the light (refer to app instructions for specific reset procedures, usually involves cycling power multiple times).
• Dimming/Color Changing Not Working:
  • Ensure you are using the Smart Life App or voice commands for control, not a physical dimmer switch.
  • Verify the light is properly connected to the app and has a stable Wi-Fi connection.
