Setup Guide
1. Mounting the Dash Cam
- Choose a Location: Select a position on your windshield that does not obstruct your view of the road. Typically, this is behind the rearview mirror.
- Clean the Windshield: Ensure the mounting area is clean and dry for optimal adhesion.
- Attach the Mount:
- Suction Cup Mount: Press the suction cup firmly against the windshield and flip the lever to secure it.
- Adhesive Mount: Peel off the protective film from the adhesive pad and firmly press the mount onto the windshield for at least 30 seconds.
- Attach the Dash Cam: Slide the dash cam onto the chosen mount until it clicks securely into place.
2. Power Connection
- Insert the car charger into your vehicle's 12V power outlet (cigarette lighter socket).
- Connect the mini-USB end of the power cable to the dash cam's power input port.
- Route the power cable neatly along the edge of the windshield and dashboard using the provided cable clips and crowbar tool to conceal it. Ensure the cable does not interfere with driving controls or airbags.
3. SD Card Installation
- Ensure the dash cam is powered off.
- Insert the included 32GB SD card into the SD card slot on the side of the dash cam until it clicks. Ensure the correct orientation.
- It is recommended to format the SD card within the dash cam's settings menu upon first use and periodically thereafter to maintain optimal recording performance.

Operating the Dash Cam
Basic Operation
- Power On/Off: The dash cam will automatically power on and begin recording when connected to your car's power and the engine starts. It will power off automatically when the engine is turned off. You can also manually power it on/off by pressing and holding the power button.
- Recording: Once powered on, the dash cam automatically starts continuous loop recording. A red indicator light or icon on the screen typically indicates active recording.
Loop Recording & G-sensor Lock
The dash cam records video in continuous loops (e.g., 1, 3, or 5-minute segments). When the SD card is full, the oldest unlocked video files are automatically overwritten to make space for new recordings.
The built-in G-sensor detects sudden impacts or collisions. When an event is detected, the current video segment is automatically locked and saved to a protected folder on the SD card, preventing it from being overwritten by loop recording. This ensures critical footage is preserved.

Figure 3: This image illustrates the automatic loop recording and G-sensor lock functions. The G-sensor ensures that video footage from incidents like collisions is automatically saved and protected from being overwritten.
Parking Monitor
When enabled, the Parking Monitor feature allows the dash cam to automatically record a short video (e.g., 1 minute) if it detects a vibration or impact while your vehicle is parked. This feature requires the dash cam to receive continuous power, which typically necessitates a hardwire kit (sold separately) connected to your car's fuse box.

Night Vision & WDR
The Truklim Q5WiFi Dash Cam is designed to provide clear video footage even in low-light conditions. Its Wide Dynamic Range (WDR) technology balances exposure, ensuring details are visible in both very bright and very dark areas of the image, which is particularly beneficial for night driving or tunnels.

Figure 5: This image visually compares the dash cam's performance in varying light conditions, highlighting how WDR (Wide Dynamic Range) technology enhances clarity and detail in both bright and dark environments.
Wi-Fi Connection & App Control
The built-in Wi-Fi allows you to connect your smartphone to the dash cam for convenient control and access to recordings. Download the dedicated app (refer to the QR code in the included user manual or search in your app store).
- Power on the dash cam.
- On the dash cam, press and hold the Wi-Fi button (often indicated by an up arrow or Wi-Fi icon) to activate Wi-Fi mode. The Wi-Fi indicator light will illuminate.
- On your smartphone, go to Wi-Fi settings and connect to the dash cam's Wi-Fi network (e.g., "Truklim_XXXX"). The default password is usually provided in the physical manual.
- Open the dash cam app on your smartphone. You should now see a live feed from the camera.
- Through the app, you can view live video, browse recorded files, download videos to your phone, and adjust various camera settings.

Maintenance
- Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the camera lens and screen. Avoid using abrasive cleaners or solvents.
- SD Card Formatting: Regularly format the SD card (at least once a month) within the dash cam's settings to prevent data corruption and ensure smooth recording. Back up any important files before formatting.
- Temperature: Avoid exposing the dash cam to extreme temperatures for prolonged periods, as this can affect battery life and overall performance.
Troubleshooting
| Problem | Possible Solution |
|---|---|
| Dash cam does not power on. | Check the car charger connection and ensure the vehicle's 12V outlet is functioning. Try a different power source if available. |
| Dash cam stops recording. | Ensure the SD card is inserted correctly and has sufficient free space. Format the SD card. Check power connection stability. |
| Video footage is blurry or unclear. | Clean the camera lens. Ensure the protective film has been removed from the lens. Check if the windshield area in front of the camera is clean. |
| Wi-Fi connection issues. | Ensure Wi-Fi is enabled on the dash cam. Restart both the dash cam and your smartphone. Verify the Wi-Fi password. |
