Selecting and Attaching Ear Tips
Proper ear tip selection is crucial for comfort and optimal sound quality. The device comes with 9 ear tips in 3 styles and 3 sizes (small, medium, large).
- Experiment with different sizes and styles to find the most comfortable and secure fit for your ear canal. A good fit minimizes feedback and maximizes sound clarity.
- To attach an ear tip, gently push it onto the receiver end of the hearing aid until it is securely in place.
Video: Audien BTE Behind The Ear OTC Hearing Aids Overview
This video demonstrates how to change ear tips on the Audien BTE hearing aids and how to place them correctly into the charging case. It provides a visual guide for proper handling and maintenance of the ear tips.
Inserting the Hearing Aid
Gently place the hearing aid behind your ear, ensuring the ear tube and receiver are comfortably seated in your ear canal. The device is designed to fit the natural curve of the ear and should not slip out.
Operating
Power On/Off
The hearing aids automatically power on when removed from the charging case and power off when placed back into the case.
Volume Control
Use the dedicated buttons on the hearing aid to adjust the volume:
- Volume Up: Press the 'Volume up' button (refer to Figure 1) for 1 second.
- Volume Down: Press the 'Volume down' button (refer to Figure 1) for 1 second.
Mode Selection
The Audien Hearing BTE features 4 environmental modes to optimize your listening experience in various settings:
- To switch between modes, press and hold the 'Mode Switch' button (refer to Figure 1) for 3 seconds.
- The modes include settings for general listening, background noise reduction, and feedback cancellation, making it easier to hear in noisy environments or during TV dialogue.
Adaptation Period
It is common to require an adaptation period when first using hearing aids. Your brain needs time to adjust to the new sounds and amplification. We recommend starting with 1-2 hours of daily use and gradually increasing the duration over 3-4 weeks until you are comfortable wearing them for extended periods.
Maintenance
Cleaning Your Hearing Aids
Regular cleaning is essential for hygiene and optimal performance:
- Use the provided cleaning brush to gently remove any earwax or debris from the ear tips and microphones.
- The charging case includes a UV cleaning section that helps sanitize the earbuds while charging.
- Replace ear tips as needed, especially if they become damaged or worn.
Recharging
The hearing aids are 100% rechargeable. Place them in the charging case when not in use to ensure they are always ready. The charging case provides up to 3 full charges (60 hours) for the devices.
Storage
When not in use, store your hearing aids in their charging case in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
Troubleshooting
If you experience issues with your Audien Hearing BTE devices, please refer to the following common solutions:
- No Sound: Ensure the hearing aids are fully charged and correctly inserted. Check if the volume is turned up.
- Low Volume: Increase the volume using the 'Volume up' button. Clean the ear tips and microphones to remove any blockages.
- Feedback/Whistling: Ensure the ear tip is securely and correctly seated in your ear canal. Try a different size or style of ear tip for a better seal. Adjust the mode to activate feedback cancellation.
- Discomfort: Experiment with different ear tip sizes and styles to find the most comfortable fit. Ensure the device is not inserted too deeply.
- Charging Issues: Verify the charging cable and adapter are securely connected. Check the indicator lights on the case to confirm charging status.
