3. Operating the Watch

3.1 Basic Timekeeping

Your Timex Standard Diver watch is a quartz movement timepiece, providing accurate timekeeping. Once the time is set, the watch will continuously display the current hour, minute, and second.

3.2 Water Resistance

This watch is water resistant up to 50 meters (5 ATM). This means it is suitable for short periods of recreational swimming and showering. It is not suitable for diving, snorkeling, or high-impact water sports. Avoid operating the crown or pushers while the watch is wet or submerged to prevent water ingress.

3.3 Chronograph Function

Your watch is equipped with a chronograph (stopwatch) function. The two pushers on the side of the case control this feature:

  • Start/Stop: Press the top pusher to start the chronograph. Press it again to stop.
  • Reset: With the chronograph stopped, press the bottom pusher to reset all chronograph hands to zero.

4. Maintenance

4.1 Cleaning Your Watch

To maintain the appearance of your watch, wipe the case and strap regularly with a soft, dry cloth. For resin straps, a damp cloth with mild soap can be used, followed by a rinse with clean water and thorough drying. Avoid harsh chemicals or abrasive materials.

4.2 Battery Replacement

The watch is powered by one unknown battery (included). When the watch stops running or the second hand begins to jump erratically (indicating a low battery), it is time for a battery replacement. It is recommended to have the battery replaced by a qualified watch technician to ensure the water resistance seal is properly maintained.

4.3 Water Resistance Seal Check

Over time, the gaskets that ensure water resistance can degrade. It is advisable to have the water resistance of your watch checked annually by a professional, especially if you frequently expose it to water.
