- Digital Display: Shows measurement readings.
- ON/OFF Button: Powers the device on or off.
- ZERO/ABS Button: Sets the zero point or switches between incremental (INC) and absolute (ABS) measurement modes.
- mm/inch/fraction Button: Toggles between millimeter, decimal inch, and fractional inch display.
- Locking Screw: Secures the measuring rod in position for stable readings.
- Measuring Rod: Extends to measure depth.
- Self-standing Frame: Provides stability during measurement.
- Magnetic Feet: Allows the device to be securely placed on ferromagnetic surfaces.
- Battery Compartment: Houses the CR2032 battery.
- Attachable Hole Measuring Rod: For measuring hole depths.
5. Setup
5.1 Battery Installation
- Locate the battery compartment cover on the back of the device.
- Open the cover.
- Insert one 3V CR2032 battery with the positive (+) side facing up.
- Close the battery compartment cover securely.
5.2 Attaching the Hole Measuring Rod
For measuring hole depths, the included hole measuring rod can be attached to the main measuring rod. Align the rod and gently slide it into place until it is secure.
6. Operating Instructions
6.1 Power On/Off
- Press the ON/OFF button to turn the device on.
- Press the ON/OFF button again to turn the device off.
- The device will automatically shut off after approximately 5 minutes of inactivity to conserve battery life.
6.2 Setting the Zero Point (Reset)
The zero point can be set at any measuring depth:
- Place the base of the depth gauge on the reference surface.
- Extend the measuring rod until it touches the desired zero point.
- Press the ZERO/ABS button. The display will show '0.00', indicating the new zero point has been set.
6.3 INC/ABS Mode Selection
The device offers two measurement modes:
- Incremental (INC) Mode: Measures relative to the last set zero point.
- Absolute (ABS) Mode: Measures from the true zero point (the base of the device).
- Press the ZERO/ABS button briefly to toggle between INC and ABS modes. The display will indicate the active mode.
6.4 Unit Selection (mm/inch/fraction)
Press the mm/inch/fraction button to cycle through the available measurement units: millimeters (mm), decimal inches (inch), and fractional inches (fraction).
6.5 Taking a Measurement
- Ensure the device is powered on and the desired unit is selected.
- Place the self-standing frame firmly on the surface from which you want to measure the depth. Use the magnetic feet for stability on ferromagnetic materials.
- Extend the measuring rod into the bore, groove, or profile until it reaches the bottom.
- Read the measurement directly from the digital display.
- To lock the measurement for later reading, tighten the locking screw on the side of the device.
7. Maintenance
7.1 Cleaning
Wipe the device with a soft, dry, lint-free cloth. Do not use water or chemical cleaning agents, as these can damage the electronic components or the display.
7.2 Battery Replacement
When the display becomes dim or shows an error, it is time to replace the battery. Follow the steps in Section 5.1 for battery installation. Ensure proper polarity.
7.3 Storage
Store the depth gauge in its provided storage box when not in use. Keep it in a dry place, away from dust, direct sunlight, and extreme temperatures. Remove the battery if the device will not be used for an extended period to prevent leakage.
8. Troubleshooting
- Display is blank or dim: Check battery installation. Replace the CR2032 battery if necessary.
- Inaccurate readings: Ensure the measuring surfaces are clean and free of debris. Recalibrate the zero point. Avoid strong magnetic fields during measurement.
- Buttons unresponsive: Try replacing the battery. If the issue persists, contact customer support.
