5. Installation Guide

Proper installation is critical for the reliable operation of the SL-2000-P detector. It is recommended that installation be performed by a certified HVAC or electrical technician.

  1. Location Selection: Choose a suitable location on the HVAC ductwork where airflow is consistent and representative of the air within the system. Avoid locations near bends, dampers, or other obstructions that may cause turbulence.
  2. Mounting: Securely mount the detector housing to the ductwork using appropriate fasteners. Ensure the unit is level and stable.
  3. Air Sampling Tube Installation: Install the provided air sampling tubes into the designated ports on the detector. The tubes must extend into the duct to capture air samples effectively. Ensure the tubes are cut to the correct length for the duct size and that the intake and exhaust holes are properly oriented.
  4. Wiring: Connect the detector to the appropriate power supply and alarm control panel according to the wiring diagrams provided by the manufacturer (refer to the specific wiring instructions included with your unit). Ensure all connections are secure and comply with local electrical codes. Verify the correct operating voltage (230VAC, 120VAC, 24VDC, or 24VAC) is supplied.
  5. Power Up: Once all connections are verified, restore power to the HVAC system and the detector. Observe the detector for initial power-up sequence and status indicators.

6. Operation

The SL-2000-P detector continuously monitors the air within the duct for the presence of smoke particles. When smoke is detected above a predetermined threshold, the unit will activate its alarm.

  • Normal Operation: During normal operation, the detector's status indicator (if present) will show a steady state, indicating it is functioning correctly.
  • Alarm Indication: Upon smoke detection, the red LED on the sensor head will illuminate, and the detector will send an alarm signal to the connected fire alarm control panel.
  • Testing: The detector can be tested using two methods:
    • Test Port Valve: Introduce approved test smoke into the test port valve to simulate smoke conditions.
    • Magnet Test Capability: Use a magnet near the designated area on the detector to initiate a functional test.
Regular testing is recommended to ensure the detector is operating correctly.

7. Maintenance

Regular maintenance is essential to ensure the long-term reliability and effectiveness of your duct smoke detector. Refer to the specific
