2. Setup and Installation

The Tape-to-Power I Connector is essential for connecting your Basics & Gemini Tape Light strip to a power source. Ensure all power is disconnected before beginning installation.

2.1 Component Overview

The connector is designed for a secure and reliable connection. It features screw terminals for connecting the power wires and a slot for inserting the tape light.

Dimensions of the Tape-to-Power Connector

Image 2.1: Technical dimensions of the Tape-to-Power Connector. The connector measures approximately 0.38 x 0.68 x 0.57 inches.

2.2 Power Supply Requirements

This connector is compatible with 24VDC power supplies. It requires a universal input voltage 120-220-277V power supply (e.g., PS-24DC-U with T24-BS-EX2 lead wire) or a 120VAC power supply (e.g., EN-BT60 with included lead wire).

2.3 Connection Steps

  1. Ensure the power supply is disconnected from the main power source.
  2. Prepare the ends of the open spliced wires by stripping approximately 1/4 inch of insulation.
  3. Insert the stripped wires into the appropriate screw terminals on the connector (refer to the polarity markings on the connector and tape light).
  4. Tighten the screws to secure the wires firmly.
  5. Carefully insert the end of the Basics or Gemini LED tape light into the designated slot on the connector, ensuring proper alignment with the contact points.
  6. Verify all connections are secure before restoring power.

3. Operation

Once properly installed, the connector facilitates the power flow to your WAC LED tape light system. The tape light itself offers flexible and customizable lighting solutions.

3.1 Tape Light Customization

  • Cutting: Basics LED tape light can be cut every 4 inches, and Gemini LED tape light can be cut every 2 inches. Always cut at designated marks.
  • Re-connection: Cut sections can be re-connected using appropriate WAC connectors (not included with this product) to extend runs or create custom configurations.

3.2 Dimming Capabilities

The connected LED tape light supports smooth and continuous dimming. This can be achieved with an electronic low voltage dimmer (ELV), TRIAC dimmer, or 0-10V dimmer (0-10V only available with PS-24DC-U power supply). Dimmers should be installed on the primary side of the transformer.

4. Maintenance

The WAC Lighting Tape-to-Power Connector requires minimal maintenance. Regular inspection and gentle cleaning will ensure its longevity and optimal performance.

4.1 Cleaning

  • Ensure power is disconnected before cleaning.
  • Wipe the connector with a soft, dry cloth to remove dust or debris.
  • Avoid using abrasive cleaners, solvents, or excessive moisture, as these can damage the connector or the tape light.

4.2 Inspection

  • Periodically check the connections to ensure they remain secure.
  • Inspect the connector and tape light for any signs of damage, such as cracks, frayed wires, or discoloration. If damage is found, disconnect power immediately and replace the affected components.

5. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your WAC Lighting Tape-to-Power Connector or the connected tape light system, consider the following common troubleshooting steps:

  • No Light: Check if the power supply is properly connected and receiving power. Verify that the tape light is correctly inserted into the connector and that the wires are securely fastened in the terminals. Ensure the tape light itself is not damaged or cut incorrectly.
  • Flickering Light: This could indicate a loose connection. Disconnect power and re-secure all wire and tape light connections. Ensure the power supply is adequate for the length of the tape light run.
  • Inconsistent Dimming: Confirm that the dimmer being used is compatible with LED lighting and the specific WAC power supply. Ensure the dimmer is correctly wired.
  • Partial Light Section: If only a section of the tape light is not illuminating, check the cut points and any intermediate connectors for proper contact.

If problems persist after following these steps, please contact WAC Lighting customer support or consult a qualified electrician.
