Introduction
This manual provides detailed instructions for the installation, operation, and maintenance of your XIIW 100mm Humidity-Controlled Bathroom Extractor Fan with Timer. Please read this manual thoroughly before installation and use to ensure safe and efficient operation. This extractor fan is designed to improve indoor air quality by effectively removing humidity and odors from bathrooms, kitchens, and other damp areas.
Safety Information
- Always disconnect the power supply before installation, maintenance, or cleaning.
- Installation must be performed by a qualified electrician and comply with all local wiring regulations.
- Do not install the fan where it may be directly exposed to water spray. The fan has an IPX4 rating, meaning it is protected against splashing water from any direction.
- Ensure proper ventilation is maintained in the room to prevent backflow of gases from open-flued appliances.
- This appliance is not intended for use by persons (including children) with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities, or lack of experience and knowledge, unless they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the appliance by a person responsible for their safety.
- Children should be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the appliance.
- Do not block the air inlet or outlet of the fan.
Setup and Installation
General Installation Guidelines
The XIIW 100mm extractor fan is suitable for wall, ceiling, or window mounting. Ensure the chosen location allows for proper ducting and access for maintenance.

Figure 1: Wall and Ceiling Mounting Diagrams
This image provides detailed diagrams for both wall and ceiling mounting. The wall mount shows the air outlet, wall installation, PVC tube, and extraction fan. The ceiling mount emphasizes removing the non-return flap for vertical installation and shows the PVC tube, wall fixing, exhaust vent, roof, and ventilation outlet.
Wiring Diagrams
The fan supports two main wiring configurations: basic operation and integrated operation with a light switch. Always ensure the power supply is disconnected before wiring.

Figure 2: Wiring Diagram (Basic and with Light)
This image presents two wiring diagrams: one for basic fan operation and another for integrated operation with a light switch. It specifies that LT=phase, no ground, Class II, and provides details on adjustable humidity activation (60-90% HR) and run-on time (1 to 30 minutes).
- Important: LT = Phase, without ground. Class II, without grounding. Conforms to DIN EN 61140 (VDE 0140-1).
- Function: Adjustable humidity activation: 60% - 90% HR. Adjustable operating duration: 1 to 30 minutes.
Operating Instructions
Automatic Humidity Sensor Operation
The fan is equipped with an automatic humidity sensor that detects humidity levels between 60% and 90% Relative Humidity (RH). When the humidity in the room exceeds the set threshold, the fan will automatically activate to extract moist air.

Figure 3: Humidity Control Effectiveness
This visual comparison shows a bathroom filled with steam ("Before use") and the same bathroom clear of steam after the extractor fan has operated ("After use"). It illustrates the fan's effectiveness in keeping the area dry and preventing mold, with a graph showing humidity detection and delayed shutdown.
Adjustable Timer Function (Delayed Stop)
After the humidity level drops below the set threshold, the fan will continue to operate for a user-defined period (0-30 minutes) to ensure all residual moisture and odors are removed. This delayed stop function helps maintain a comfortable environment and prevents mold formation.

Figure 4: Humidity and Timer Adjustment Controls
This image displays the internal circuit board of the extractor fan, highlighting the humidity adjustment button and timer adjustment button. It details the adjustable humidity range (60-90% RH) and the delayed stop function (0-30 minutes), with indicators for humidity levels.
- Use a small screwdriver to adjust the humidity threshold and timer duration on the circuit board.
- Humidity Adjustment: Turn the 'Humidity adjustment button' to set the desired humidity activation level (60-90% RH).
- Timer Adjustment: Turn the 'Timer adjustment button' to set the desired run-on time (0-30 minutes) after humidity drops.
- Important: If using humidity-controlled mode, always program the timer. Without a set timer, the fan may run indefinitely if the humidity sensor remains active.
Two-Mode Control
The fan offers flexible control options:
- Automatic Mode: The fan starts automatically via the humidity sensor when the humidity threshold is exceeded.
- Manual Mode: The fan can be activated manually via an external switch or light switch, providing convenient control when automatic operation is not desired.
Maintenance
Regular cleaning ensures optimal performance and longevity of your extractor fan. Always disconnect the power supply before performing any maintenance.
Cleaning the Fan
- Disconnect Power: Ensure the fan is completely disconnected from the main power supply.
- Open the Cover: Carefully open the front cover of the fan. Refer to Figure 5 for guidance.
- Clean Components: Use a soft, damp cloth to wipe down the fan blades, housing, and cover. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
- Reassemble: Once clean and dry, securely close the cover.
- Reconnect Power: Restore power to the fan.

Figure 5: Opening the Fan Cover
This image demonstrates the process of opening the fan's cover, indicating where to use a screwdriver to access the internal components for cleaning or adjustments.
Non-Return Flap
The integrated non-return flap prevents backflow of air and entry of insects. Periodically check the flap for any obstructions and ensure it moves freely.

Figure 6: Double Protection Non-Return Flap
This image illustrates the double protection non-return flap mechanism of the fan. It shows how the flap blocks cold and humid air from outside and effectively prevents insects from entering, ensuring a clean and comfortable indoor environment.
Troubleshooting
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Fan does not turn on. | No power supply. Humidity level below threshold. Faulty wiring. | Check power connection and circuit breaker. Increase humidity or manually activate. Consult a qualified electrician to check wiring. |
| Fan runs continuously. | Timer not set or set too long. Humidity sensor faulty or set too low. Constant high humidity. | Adjust the timer setting (0-30 min). Adjust the humidity threshold on the circuit board. Ensure proper ventilation in the room. |
| Poor air extraction. | Blocked air ducts. Fan blades are dirty. Non-return flap obstructed. | Check and clear any obstructions in the ducting. Clean the fan blades as per maintenance section. Inspect and clear the non-return flap. |
| Excessive noise. | Loose components. Obstruction in fan blades. Improper installation. | Check for any loose parts and tighten them. Inspect and remove any foreign objects from the blades. Ensure the fan is securely mounted and level. |
