Extralink EGH-7000 Dual Fuel Hybrid Generator

Instruction Manual

1. Introduction

This manual provides essential information for the safe and efficient operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of your Extralink EGH-7000 Dual Fuel Hybrid Generator. Please read this manual thoroughly before operating the generator and keep it for future reference.

The Extralink EGH-7000 is a powerful and versatile tri-phase generator designed for various applications, including home backup, construction sites, and outdoor activities. It features a 192F 4-stroke engine, dual fuel capability (gasoline and LPG), electric start, and pure sine wave output for sensitive electronics.

2. Safety Information

WARNING: Failure to follow these safety instructions could result in serious injury or death.

  • Carbon Monoxide Hazard: Generators produce carbon monoxide (CO), an odorless, colorless, and deadly gas. Operate the generator outdoors only, far away from windows, doors, and vents. Never operate indoors or in partially enclosed spaces.
  • Fire Hazard: Gasoline and LPG are highly flammable. Refuel in a well-ventilated area with the engine off and cool. Do not smoke or allow open flames near the generator. Store fuel in approved containers.
  • Electrical Shock Hazard: Never operate the generator in wet conditions. Ensure all electrical connections are secure and properly grounded. Do not connect the generator directly to your home's electrical system without a transfer switch installed by a qualified electrician.
  • Hot Surfaces: The generator engine and muffler become very hot during operation and remain hot for some time after shutdown. Avoid contact to prevent burns.
  • Moving Parts: Keep hands, feet, and clothing away from moving parts to prevent injury.
  • Children and Pets: Keep children and pets away from the generator at all times.
  • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): Wear appropriate PPE, such as gloves and eye protection, when operating or maintaining the generator.

4. Setup and Preparation

Before first use, perform the following steps:

4.1. Unpacking and Assembly

  1. Carefully remove the generator from its packaging.
  2. Attach the wheels and transport handle if not already installed. (Refer to included assembly diagrams if necessary).
  3. Place the generator on a firm, level surface in a well-ventilated outdoor area, away from combustible materials.

4.2. Adding Engine Oil

The generator is shipped without engine oil. Operating without oil will cause severe engine damage.

  1. Ensure the generator is on a level surface.
  2. Locate the oil fill cap/dipstick.
  3. Unscrew and remove the dipstick, wipe it clean.
  4. Add recommended engine oil (e.g., SAE 10W-30) slowly until the oil level reaches the upper mark on the dipstick. Do not overfill. The oil capacity is approximately 1.1 liters.
  5. Reinstall the dipstick securely.

4.3. Fueling the Generator

WARNING: Do not refuel while the engine is running or hot. Avoid spilling fuel.

4.3.1. Gasoline

  1. Ensure the engine is off and cool.
  2. Unscrew the fuel cap on top of the fuel tank.
  3. Pour fresh, unleaded gasoline (minimum 95 octane) into the tank, up to the fill neck, but do not overfill. The tank capacity is 25 liters.
  4. Securely replace the fuel cap.

4.3.2. LPG (Liquefied Petroleum Gas)

  1. Ensure the engine is off and cool.
  2. Connect an appropriate LPG regulator and hose (not included) to a standard LPG cylinder.
  3. Connect the other end of the hose to the LPG inlet on the generator.
  4. Ensure all connections are tight and leak-free.

5. Operating Instructions

5.1. Starting the Generator

Ensure all connected appliances are turned off before starting the generator.

5.1.1. Electric Start

  1. Ensure the fuel valve is open (for gasoline) or the LPG cylinder valve is open (for LPG).
  2. Set the engine switch to the "ON" position.
  3. Insert the key into the ignition switch and turn it to the "START" position. Hold until the engine starts, then release.
  4. Allow the engine to warm up for a few minutes before connecting electrical loads.

5.1.2. Manual (Recoil) Start

  1. Ensure the fuel valve is open (for gasoline) or the LPG cylinder valve is open (for LPG).
  2. Set the engine switch to the "ON" position.
  3. Pull the recoil starter handle slowly until resistance is felt, then pull sharply and quickly. Repeat if necessary until the engine starts.
  4. Allow the engine to warm up for a few minutes before connecting electrical loads.

5.2. Connecting Electrical Loads

  1. Once the generator is running smoothly, plug in your appliances.
  2. Turn on appliances one by one, starting with the largest load.
  3. Monitor the voltmeter to ensure stable output.
  4. Do not exceed the generator's rated wattage (7000W continuous, 7500W max).

5.3. Stopping the Generator

  1. Turn off and unplug all connected appliances.
  2. Allow the generator to run for a few minutes without load to cool down.
  3. Set the engine switch to the "OFF" position.
  4. Close the fuel valve (for gasoline) or the LPG cylinder valve (for LPG).

6. Maintenance

WARNING: Always turn off the generator and disconnect the spark plug wire before performing any maintenance.

6.1. Regular Checks

  • Before Each Use: Check engine oil level, fuel level, and inspect for any visible damage or leaks.
  • Every 20 Hours of Operation: Check and clean the air filter.
  • Every 50 Hours of Operation or Annually: Change engine oil.
  • Every 100 Hours of Operation or Annually: Inspect and clean the spark plug, check valve clearance (professional service recommended).

6.2. Engine Oil Change

  1. Run the engine for a few minutes to warm the oil.
  2. Turn off the engine and disconnect the spark plug wire.
  3. Place a drain pan under the oil drain plug.
  4. Remove the oil drain plug and the oil fill cap/dipstick to allow oil to drain completely.
  5. Reinstall the drain plug and tighten securely.
  6. Refill with the recommended amount and type of new engine oil (approx. 1.1L).
  7. Check the oil level with the dipstick and reinstall the cap.

6.3. Air Filter Maintenance

  1. Remove the air filter cover.
  2. Remove the foam filter element.
  3. Wash the foam element in warm, soapy water, rinse thoroughly, and allow to air dry completely.
  4. Lightly oil the foam element with engine oil, then squeeze out excess oil.
  5. Reinstall the filter element and cover.
