Operating Instructions

1. Cleaning with the Blade Maintenance Brush

The blade maintenance brush is specifically designed to safely remove food debris and residue from the slicer's blade and hard-to-reach areas. Always ensure the slicer is turned off and unplugged before cleaning.

  1. Carefully brush away any food particles from the blade and the slicer's carriage.
  2. Use the brush to clean around the blade guard and other intricate parts.
  3. After brushing, wipe down the surfaces with the microfibre cloth.

2. Lubrication with Oil Spray

Regular lubrication ensures the smooth and efficient operation of your slicer's moving parts, reducing friction and wear. Apply lubricant only to designated moving components.

  1. Shake the lubricant oil spray can well before use.
  2. Using the fine nozzle, apply a small amount of lubricant to the sliding rods and other moving mechanisms of the slicer.
  3. Operate the slicer manually a few times to distribute the lubricant evenly.
  4. Wipe off any excess lubricant with the microfibre cloth.

3. Retouching Paint Chips with Marker

The red retouching marker is designed to cover small paint chips, restoring the aesthetic appearance of your slicer. Ensure the surface is clean and dry before application.

  1. Clean the area around the paint chip thoroughly with the microfibre cloth.
  2. Shake the retouching marker vigorously with the cap on.
  3. Press the nib of the marker gently onto a scrap piece of paper until the paint flows.
  4. Carefully apply the paint to the chipped area, using light, even strokes.
  5. Allow the paint to dry completely before handling the slicer. Multiple thin coats may be applied if necessary, allowing drying time between coats.

Maintenance Schedule

Adhering to a regular maintenance schedule will prolong the life and performance of your Berkel slicer.

Maintenance TaskFrequency
Blade and Carriage Cleaning (using brush)After each use
Lubrication of Moving PartsMonthly, or as needed based on usage
Paint RetouchingAs needed for chips or scratches

Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues while using the restoring kit, consider the following common scenarios:

  • Issue: Lubricant spray not dispensing properly.
Solution: Ensure the nozzle is clear and not clogged. Shake the can thoroughly before use. If the issue persists, the can may be empty or defective.
  • Issue: Paint marker not dispensing or uneven application.
Solution: Shake the marker well. Press the nib firmly on a test surface until paint flows. Ensure the surface being retouched is clean and dry. Apply multiple thin coats rather than one thick coat.
  • Issue: Brush bristles are matted or ineffective.
Solution: Clean the brush regularly with warm, soapy water and allow it to air dry. Replace the brush if bristles are permanently damaged or worn.
