3. Setup Guide

Follow these steps to set up your INKBIRD Wireless Pool Thermometer and WiFi Gateway:

1. Power On the Gateway:

   Plug the INKBIRD Wi-Fi Gateway (IBS-M1) into a standard electrical outlet using the provided USB power cable and adapter.

2. Download and Open the INKBIRD APP:

   Download the "INKBIRD" APP from your mobile device's app store (available for iOS and Android). Open the app and create an account or log in. On the main screen, click the "+" icon on the top right corner to add a new device.

3. Connect the Gateway to Wi-Fi:

   Follow the in-app instructions to connect the IBS-M1 WiFi Gateway to your 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network. Ensure your mobile device is also connected to the same 2.4GHz network during this process.

4. Connect the Thermometer to the Gateway:

   Once the WiFi Gateway is successfully connected to your phone via the app, insert batteries into the IBS-P01R Floating Pool Thermometer. The thermometer will automatically attempt to connect to the gateway. Follow any additional prompts in the app to complete the pairing process.

5. Placement:

   Place the IBS-P01R floating thermometer in the water of your pool, spa, or other aquatic environment. Ensure it floats freely and is not obstructed.

4. Operating Instructions

Monitoring Temperature:

After successful setup, you can monitor the temperature in several ways:

• Via the INKBIRD APP: Open the INKBIRD app on your smartphone. The app will display real-time temperature readings from the floating thermometer. You can view current temperature, historical data, and set high/low temperature alarms.
• Via the Indoor Display Unit: The included indoor display unit will show the water temperature from the IBS-P01R thermometer, along with the indoor ambient temperature and humidity.

Setting Alarms:

Within the INKBIRD app, navigate to the settings for your IBS-P01R thermometer. You can set custom high and low temperature thresholds. If the water temperature goes outside these set limits, the app will send a real-time notification to your mobile device.

Data Export:

The app allows you to access historical temperature data stored in the cloud for up to 12 months. You can view this data directly in the app or export it as a CSV file to your email for further analysis.

5. Maintenance

Cleaning:

Wipe the thermometer and gateway clean with a soft, damp cloth as needed. Do not use abrasive cleaners or immerse the gateway in water.

Battery Replacement:

The IBS-P01R floating thermometer requires batteries for operation. When the battery indicator on the indoor display or in the app shows low power, replace the batteries according to the instructions provided in the quick start guide or on the device itself. Ensure the battery compartment is sealed properly after replacement to maintain water resistance.

Addressing Fog Inside Thermometer:

Occasionally, condensation or fog may appear inside the thermometer's display. This can be addressed as follows:

1. Hold the thermometer completely submerged under water for a few minutes to help remove the fog.
2. If water drops or bubbles persist, place the thermometer in hot water for a few days. The fog should dissipate automatically.

• No Temperature Reading on App/Display:
  • Ensure the IBS-M1 Gateway is powered on and connected to your 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network.
  • Check the batteries in the IBS-P01R thermometer and replace if necessary.
  • Ensure the thermometer is within the 300-foot range of the gateway. Obstructions like thick walls can reduce range.
  • Re-pair the thermometer with the gateway via the app if the connection is lost.
• App Notifications Not Received:
  • Verify that push notifications are enabled for the INKBIRD app in your phone's settings.
  • Check your alarm settings within the INKBIRD app to ensure thresholds are correctly configured.
  • Ensure your mobile device has an active internet connection.
• Inaccurate Temperature Readings:
  • Ensure the thermometer is fully submerged in the water and not partially exposed to air.
  • Clean the thermometer probe if there is any debris or buildup.
  • Compare readings with another known accurate thermometer to verify.
• Gateway Disconnects from Wi-Fi:
  • Ensure your Wi-Fi router is functioning correctly and the 2.4GHz band is active.
  • Relocate the gateway closer to your Wi-Fi router if signal strength is weak.
  • Restart the gateway and your Wi-Fi router.
