Setup and Installation

Follow these steps to securely install your anti-theft license plate screws:

  1. Prepare the Mounting Area: Ensure the license plate mounting holes on your vehicle are clean and free from debris.
  2. Insert Nylon Inserts (if needed): If your vehicle's mounting holes are not threaded or are oversized, gently push the provided nylon screw inserts into the holes. These provide a secure anchor for the screws.
  3. Attach Foam Pads: Peel the backing from the foam anti-rattle pads and apply them to the back of your license plate, aligning them with the screw holes. This prevents vibration and scratching.
  4. A hand applying a black foam anti-rattle pad to the back of a silver license plate. The pads are designed to prevent vibration and scratching between the license plate and the vehicle.

  5. Position License Plate: Align your license plate and any frame (not included) with the mounting holes on your vehicle.
  6. Assemble Screw and Washer: Place a black screw washer onto each anti-theft screw.
  7. Secure the Screws: Insert the assembled screw and washer through the license plate (and frame) into the vehicle's mounting hole. Use the provided special hex L-wrench or the hex drill bit with a power tool to tighten the screws. Ensure they are snug but do not overtighten.

Operation

The Middrivr Anti-Theft License Plate Screws are designed for simple operation by authorized users while deterring unauthorized removal. The unique hexagonal head with a central pin requires the specialized L-wrench or drill bit provided in the kit for installation and removal.

  • Installation: Use the provided L-wrench or hex drill bit to tighten the screws clockwise until snug.
  • Removal: To remove the screws, use the provided L-wrench or hex drill bit to turn the screws counter-clockwise.
  • Screw Covers: The screw covers are designed to snap firmly into place over the screw heads. To remove them, carefully pry them off using a small, flat tool, taking care not to damage the cover or surrounding area.

Maintenance

To ensure the longevity and continued performance of your anti-theft license plate screws, follow these maintenance guidelines:

  • Regular Cleaning: Clean the screws and covers periodically with mild soap and water to remove dirt and road grime. Avoid abrasive cleaners that could damage the black coating.
  • Inspect for Damage: Periodically check the screws, washers, and covers for any signs of wear, damage, or loosening. Replace any damaged components immediately.
  • Rust Prevention: The screws are made from stainless steel for rust resistance. However, in harsh environments (e.g., coastal areas, areas with road salt), occasional inspection and cleaning can further prevent any potential corrosion.

Troubleshooting

If you encounter any issues during installation or use, refer to the following common solutions:

  • Screws do not fit:
    • Verify your vehicle's license plate mounting holes are M6 (1/4") compatible.
    • Ensure you are using the nylon screw inserts if the holes are unthreaded or too large.
    • Some vehicles may require a different screw size. Please check your vehicle's specifications before purchase.
  • Screw covers do not stay on:
    • Ensure the screw is fully tightened and the washer is properly seated before attempting to snap on the cover.
    • Apply firm, even pressure when snapping the cover into place.
    • If covers are damaged, they may not secure properly and should be replaced.
  • License plate rattles:
    • Confirm that the foam anti-rattle pads are correctly installed on the back of the license plate.
    • Ensure all screws are tightened securely.
