Setup and Fitting

Proper helmet fit is crucial for both comfort and safety. Follow these steps to correctly set up your KASK Urban R helmet:

  1. Initial Placement: Place the helmet squarely on your head, ensuring it covers your forehead and sits level. It should not tilt back or forward.
  2. Adjusting the ERGO FIT System: Locate the ERGO FIT adjuster wheel at the back of the helmet. Rotate the wheel clockwise to tighten the fit system, or counter-clockwise to loosen it. Adjust until the helmet feels snug and secure without being uncomfortably tight. The helmet should not move significantly when you shake your head.KASK helmet with ERGO FIT adjuster

  3. Chinstrap Adjustment: Fasten the synthetic leather chinstrap buckle. Adjust the strap length using the side adjusters so that the strap is snug under your chin, but not constricting. There should be enough room to fit one or two fingers between the strap and your chin. The "Y" straps should meet just below your ears.
  4. Visor Position: Ensure the visor is securely attached. It can be moved up or down as needed.

Always ensure your helmet is properly fitted before every ride. A poorly fitted helmet may not provide adequate protection in the event of an impact.

Operating Features

Visor Operation (One-Move Switch System)

The KASK Urban R helmet features a Light Smoke Visor with UV400 protection, designed for easy interchangeability.

  • Attaching/Detaching: To attach or detach the visor, use the One-Move Switch System. Gently press the release buttons on either side of the visor attachment points and slide the visor out or in. Ensure it clicks securely into place when attaching.
  • Positioning: The visor can be moved up or down to suit your preference and riding conditions.

Active Ventilation System

The integrated active ventilation system allows you to adjust airflow for optimal comfort.

  • Adjusting Airflow: Locate the lever at the back of the helmet. Move the lever to open or close the ventilation ports, allowing you to regulate the amount of air circulating through the helmet.

Maintenance and Care

Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and hygiene of your KASK Urban R helmet.

  • Cleaning the Shell: Use a soft, damp cloth and mild soap to clean the outer shell of the helmet. Avoid abrasive cleaners or solvents, as these can damage the helmet's materials.
  • Cleaning the Visor: Clean the visor with a soft cloth and water. For stubborn dirt, use a specialized lens cleaner. Do not use harsh chemicals or abrasive materials that could scratch the visor.
  • Washing Interior Pads: The interior padding is removable and washable. Gently detach the pads from the helmet. Hand wash them with mild soap and cool water, or machine wash on a delicate cycle in a laundry bag. Air dry completely before reattaching them to the helmet. The Silver Plus treatment helps maintain hygiene.
  • Storage: Store your helmet in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures. Avoid placing heavy objects on top of the helmet.
  • Inspection: Periodically inspect your helmet for any signs of damage, such as cracks, dents, or frayed straps. If any damage is found, the helmet should be replaced immediately, as its protective capabilities may be compromised.

Troubleshooting

This section addresses common issues you might encounter with your KASK Urban R helmet.

  • Helmet feels loose or unstable:

Ensure the ERGO FIT adjuster wheel is tightened sufficiently. Check that the chinstrap is snug and properly adjusted. The helmet should not shift significantly when you move your head.

  • Visor is difficult to move or detach:

Verify that the One-Move Switch System release buttons are fully pressed when attempting to detach or attach the visor. Ensure no debris is obstructing the mechanism. Apply gentle, even pressure.

  • Whistling noise from visor at speed:

This can sometimes occur due to airflow around the visor, especially at higher speeds or in certain head positions. Ensure the visor is fully seated and securely attached. Adjusting the visor's position slightly may help reduce the noise. If the issue persists and is disruptive, consider contacting KASK support.

  • Ventilation feels insufficient:

Check the active ventilation system lever at the back of the helmet. Ensure it is in the open position to allow maximum airflow. Clear any obstructions from the ventilation ports.
