1. Introduction and Overview

The Yakry Automatic Pet Feeder is designed to simplify pet feeding by providing scheduled meals with precise portion control. With an 8-liter (33-cup) large capacity, it can store a month's worth of dry food, making it ideal for busy pet owners or those traveling. This feeder supports up to 7 meals daily with 1-30 portions per meal and includes a 20-second voice recording feature to call your pet at mealtime. 2. Setup

2.1 Unboxing and Component Check

Carefully remove all components from the packaging. Ensure you have the main feeder unit, food bowl, and power adapter. Inspect for any damage.

2.2 Power Supply Connection

The feeder can be powered by the included power adapter or 3 D-cell alkaline batteries (not included) for backup. For optimal performance, it is recommended to use both.

  • Connect the power adapter to the feeder and a wall outlet.
  • For battery backup, open the battery compartment at the bottom of the unit and insert 3 D-cell batteries, ensuring correct polarity.

2.3 Assembling the Food Bowl

Attach the food bowl to the main unit by sliding it into the designated slot at the bottom front of the feeder. Ensure it is securely in place.

2.4 Filling the Food Reservoir

Open the secure lid lock on top of the feeder. Fill the reservoir with dry pet food. The feeder is designed for kibble sizes between 2-12mm (0.08-0.5 inches) to prevent clogging. Do not use kibble larger than 12mm.

Place the desiccant bag (if included) into the designated desiccant box under the lid to keep food fresh and free from moisture.

3. Operating Instructions

3.1 Control Panel Overview

The control panel features a digital display and several buttons for programming:

  • Power Button: Turns the unit on/off.
  • Lock/Unlock Button: Locks or unlocks the control panel to prevent accidental changes.
  • Settings Button: Enters programming mode for time and meal settings.
  • Record Button: Records a voice message.
  • Play Button: Plays the recorded voice message.
  • Plus (+) / Minus (-) Buttons: Adjust values during programming.
  • Manual Feed Button: Dispenses one portion of food immediately.

3.2 Setting Current Time

  1. Hold the Lock/Unlock button for 3 seconds to unlock the screen.
  2. Hold the Settings button for 3 seconds to enter current time setting mode.
  3. Use the Plus (+) and Minus (-) buttons to set the hour, then press Settings to confirm.
  4. Use the Plus (+) and Minus (-) buttons to set the minutes, then press Settings to confirm.
  5. Hold the Settings button for 3 seconds to complete the current time setting.

3.3 Programming Meal Times and Portions

  1. Ensure the screen is unlocked. Press the Settings button once to enter daily meal setting mode.
  2. The display will show '1' for the first meal. Use Plus (+) and Minus (-) to set the desired feeding time (hour and minute), pressing Settings after each.
  3. After setting the time, use Plus (+) and Minus (-) to set the portion size (1-30 portions). Press Settings to confirm.
  4. Continue pressing Settings to cycle through up to 7 available meal times, repeating steps 2 and 3 for each.
  5. To exit meal setting mode and return to the current time display, press the Lock/Unlock button.

3.4 Recording a Voice Message

You can record a 20-second voice message to call your pet at mealtime.

  1. Ensure the screen is unlocked.
  2. Press and hold the Record button until you hear a beep. Begin speaking your message.
  3. Release the Record button when finished (up to 20 seconds).
  4. Press the Play button to listen to your recorded message.

4. Maintenance

4.1 Cleaning the Feeder

Regular cleaning is essential to prevent bacterial growth and ensure proper operation.

  • Disconnect the power adapter and remove any batteries.
  • Remove the food bowl and the food tank. These parts are removable and can be cleaned with water and mild soap.
  • Wipe the main unit with a damp cloth. Do not submerge the main unit in water.
  • Ensure all parts are completely dry before reassembling and refilling with food.

4.2 Desiccant Bag Replacement

Replace the desiccant bag every 1-2 months to maintain food freshness and prevent moisture buildup.

4.3 Kibble Size Recommendation

To avoid food jamming, ensure the kibble size is between 2-12mm (0.08-0.5 inches). Using kibble outside this range may cause the feeder to malfunction.
