Steinel NightmatIQ Twilight Switch (Model 066147) Instruction Manual

Automatic Outdoor Lighting Control

1. Product Overview

The Steinel NightmatIQ Twilight Switch is designed for automatic control of outdoor lighting based on ambient light levels. It offers a discreet, flat, and linear design, ensuring reliable operation in various outdoor environments.

This device automatically activates connected luminaires when the ambient light falls below a user-defined threshold and deactivates them at dawn. It is suitable for converting existing manual lighting systems to automatic operation.

4. Operating Instructions

The NightmatIQ Twilight Switch operates automatically once installed and configured.

4.1 Automatic Light Control

The device continuously monitors the ambient light level. When the light level drops below the set twilight threshold, the connected lighting fixtures will automatically turn on. When the ambient light level rises above the threshold (e.g., at dawn), the lighting fixtures will automatically turn off.

4.2 Adjusting the Twilight Threshold

The twilight threshold, which determines when the lights turn on and off, can be adjusted using a potentiometer (regulator) on the device. This allows you to set the desired brightness level between 1 and 75 lux.

  • Lower Lux Setting (e.g., 1 lux): Lights will turn on only when it is very dark.
  • Higher Lux Setting (e.g., 75 lux): Lights will turn on when it is still relatively bright (e.g., overcast day, early dusk).

To adjust, carefully open the device cover (if applicable) and locate the potentiometer. Turn it clockwise to increase the lux threshold (lights turn on earlier) or counter-clockwise to decrease it (lights turn on later).

5. Maintenance

The Steinel NightmatIQ Twilight Switch is designed for minimal maintenance due to its robust construction and IP54 rating.

  • Cleaning: Periodically clean the sensor surface with a soft, damp cloth to remove any dirt, dust, or debris that might obstruct the light sensor. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
  • Inspection: Regularly inspect the device for any signs of damage, loose connections, or wear. If any issues are found, disconnect power and consult a qualified electrician.
