6. Maintenance

Proper maintenance ensures the longevity and efficiency of your heater:

  • Cleaning: If cleaning is required, always unplug the heater from the power outlet and allow it to cool completely before removing it from the water.
  • Inspection: Periodically inspect the heater for any signs of damage, such as cracks in the glass tube or frayed power cords. Do not use a damaged heater.
  • Algae Removal: Gently wipe off any algae or mineral deposits from the heater's surface using a soft cloth or sponge. Avoid abrasive materials that could scratch the glass.

7. Safety Information

Adhere to these safety guidelines to prevent accidents and ensure proper function:

  • Full Submersion: The heater must be completely immersed in water at all times when powered on. Operating it partially or fully out of water can cause overheating and damage.
  • Unplug Before Handling: Always unplug the heater from the power source before performing any maintenance, cleaning, or when removing it from the aquarium. Allow it to cool down before handling.
  • Power Supply: Ensure the voltage of your power supply matches the heater's specifications (110-120V).
  • Cord Safety: Do not bend, pinch, or place heavy objects on the power cord. Keep the cord away from sharp edges and hot surfaces.
  • Damage Inspection: Do not use the heater if the glass tube is cracked, the cord is damaged, or if it shows any signs of malfunction.
  • Children and Pets: Keep the heater and its power cord out of reach of children and pets.
  • Indoor Use Only: This product is designed for indoor aquarium use only.

8. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your Dreyoo aquarium heater, consider the following:

  • Heater Not Turning On:
    • Check if the power cord is securely plugged into a working outlet.
    • Verify that the water temperature is below the set temperature on the heater. The heater will only activate when heating is required.
    • Ensure the heater is fully submerged.
  • Water Temperature Too Low/High:
    • Confirm the set temperature on the heater's knob. Adjust as needed.
    • Check the accuracy of your external thermometer.
    • Ensure the heater's wattage is appropriate for your tank size and ambient room temperature (refer to the capacity chart in Section 3). Larger tanks or colder rooms may require higher wattage or multiple heaters.
    • Verify adequate water circulation around the heater.
  • Heater Light On Continuously:
    • This indicates the heater is constantly working to reach the set temperature. This might occur if the tank is too large for the heater's wattage or if the room temperature is very low. Consider adding another heater or using a higher wattage model.
