1. Introduction
This user manual provides essential information for the installation, operation, and maintenance of your Beninca BULL424R Slide Gate Opener/Operator Kit. Please read this manual thoroughly before proceeding with installation or operation to ensure safe and efficient use of the product. This system is designed for automating sliding gates, offering reliable and smooth operation for residential and light commercial applications.
2. Product Overview and Kit Contents
The Beninca BULL424R Slide Gate Opener/Operator Kit is a comprehensive solution for automating sliding gates. It features a robust 24 VDC motor, an internal control panel with an integrated LCD display, and a built-in radio-receiver for remote control operation. The system is designed for gates up to 20 feet in length or 400 pounds in weight, with optimal performance suggested for gates up to 16 feet and 400 pounds.
The kit includes the following components:
- 1 x Beninca BULL424R Slide Gate Opener/Operator Unit
- 2 x Beninca Long-Range 2-Button Remote Controls (to.GO 2 A)
- 5 x RI.M4P Nylon / Steel Core Racks (40 inches each)

3. Safety Information
WARNING: Improper installation or use can lead to serious injury or property damage. Always follow local electrical codes and safety regulations.
- Installation should be performed by qualified personnel.
- Ensure the power supply is disconnected before performing any installation, maintenance, or repair work.
- Keep hands, feet, and clothing clear of the gate and operator while the system is in motion.
- Do not allow children to play with or operate the gate controls.
- Install safety devices such as photocells and safety edges to prevent crushing or entrapment. The system features an anti-crushing reverse sensor, but additional safety measures are recommended.
- Ensure the gate moves freely and is properly balanced before installing the operator.
4. Installation and Setup
The Beninca BULL424R operates on a rack and pinion system. Proper alignment and secure mounting are crucial for optimal performance and longevity.
4.1 Site Preparation
Prepare a stable, level concrete pad or foundation for mounting the operator unit. Ensure adequate space for the gate's full travel and access for maintenance.
4.2 Mounting the Operator
Securely bolt the BULL424R operator unit to the prepared foundation. Ensure it is perfectly level and aligned with the gate's path.
4.3 Installing the Racks
Attach the RI.M4P Nylon/Steel Core Racks along the bottom edge of the sliding gate. The racks must be installed precisely, ensuring the teeth mesh correctly with the operator's pinion gear. Maintain a small clearance (approx. 1-2mm) between the rack and the pinion to allow for gate movement and thermal expansion.

4.4 Electrical Connections
Connect the 24 VDC power supply to the operator unit as per the wiring diagram provided in the full installation manual (not included in this kit's documentation). Ensure all connections are secure and insulated. Install any necessary safety devices like photocells or flashing lights.
4.5 Initial Programming and Remote Control Pairing
The BULL424R features an integrated LCD display for easy programming. Follow the on-screen prompts to set parameters such as torque, stroke limits, anti-crushing reverse sensor sensitivity, soft-start/soft-stop functions, working time, and number of cycles. Refer to the detailed programming guide for specific menu options.
To pair the remote controls, access the radio-receiver programming menu via the LCD display and follow the instructions to register your to.GO 2 A remote controls.

5. Operation
Once installed and programmed, the Beninca BULL424R provides smooth and reliable gate automation.
5.1 Using the Remote Control
Press one of the programmed buttons on your to.GO 2 A remote control to activate the gate. The gate will open or close depending on its current state. A second press will typically stop the gate, and a third press will reverse its direction (this behavior can be configured in the programming).
5.2 Key Features in Operation
- Silent Operation: The 24 VDC motor ensures quiet movement of the gate.
- Soft-Start/Soft-Stop: The gate begins and ends its movement gently, reducing wear and tear on the system and the gate structure.
- Anti-Crushing Reverse Sensor: If an obstruction is detected during closing, the gate will automatically reverse to prevent crushing.
- Energy Efficient: Designed for efficient power consumption, even with very frequent use.
6. Maintenance
Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and optimal performance of your gate opener system.
- Monthly: Inspect the gate's movement for any obstructions or binding. Clean the rack and pinion gear to remove dirt, debris, or leaves. Check for any loose bolts or connections on the operator unit and the gate.
- Quarterly: Lubricate the gate rollers and hinges if applicable. Check the condition of the electrical cables for any signs of wear or damage. Test the anti-crushing sensor by placing a soft object in the gate's path during closing.
- Annually: Have a qualified technician inspect the entire system, including motor, control board, and safety devices, to ensure all components are functioning correctly.
Always disconnect power to the unit before performing any maintenance.
7. Troubleshooting
This section provides basic troubleshooting steps for common issues. For more complex problems, consult a qualified technician or the full technical manual.
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Gate does not move. | No power; remote control battery dead; safety device activated; motor overload. | Check power supply; replace remote battery; check photocells for obstructions; check LCD display for error codes. |
| Gate stops unexpectedly. | Obstruction detected; safety device activated; motor overheating. | Remove obstruction; check safety devices; allow motor to cool down. |
| Remote control not working. | Battery dead; remote not paired; signal interference. | Replace battery; re-pair remote control (refer to Section 4.5); reduce interference sources. |
| Gate moves sluggishly. | Friction in gate mechanism; low voltage; motor issue. | Lubricate gate components; check power supply; consult technician. |
