2. Safety Information

4. Setup

4.1 Battery Installation

The HANMATEK DT50 requires two AAA batteries for operation. To install or replace batteries:

  1. Locate the battery compartment cover on the back of the device.
  2. Slide the cover open in the direction indicated by the arrow.
  3. Insert two AAA batteries, ensuring correct polarity (+/-) as marked inside the compartment.
  4. Close the battery compartment cover securely.

5. Operating Instructions

5.1 Power On/Off

  • To power on: Press the Power/Measure button (Power button icon).
  • To power off: Press and hold the Power/Measure button for 2 seconds, or the device will automatically shut down after 150 seconds of inactivity.

5.2 Unit Conversion

To change measurement units (m/in/ft/ft+in):

  • Press and hold the Unit button (Unit button icon) to cycle through the available units.

5.3 Reference Point Selection

The device can measure from its front or rear edge. To change the reference point:

  • Press the Reference Point button (usually indicated by an icon showing the device with an arrow). The current reference point will be displayed on the screen.

5.4 Basic Measurement (Single Distance)

  1. Ensure the desired reference point is selected.
  2. Point the laser at the target surface.
  3. Press the Power/Measure button. The measured distance will appear on the display.

5.5 Measurement Modes

The DT50 offers multiple measurement functions. Press the Function button (often indicated by a square icon with multiple smaller squares) to cycle through modes.

  • Continuous Measurement: Activates a real-time measurement display, showing maximum and minimum values. Press the Power/Measure button to start and stop.
  • Area Measurement: Measure two sides (length and width) to calculate the area.
  • Volume Measurement: Measure three sides (length, width, height) to calculate the volume.
  • Pythagorean Measurement (Indirect): Used to measure inaccessible heights or distances by taking two or three measurements to form a right triangle. Follow the on-screen prompts for each measurement step.

5.6 Data Storage

The DT50 can store up to 20 sets of measurement data.

  • To view stored data: Press the Data button (often indicated by a folder icon). Use the arrow buttons to navigate through the stored records.
  • New measurements are automatically saved.

6. Maintenance

6.1 Cleaning

Regular cleaning helps maintain the device's accuracy and lifespan:

  • Wipe the device body with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
  • Clean the laser lens carefully with a soft cloth, similar to cleaning camera lenses.

6.2 Storage

  • When not in use for extended periods, remove the batteries to prevent leakage.
  • Store the device in its carrying pouch in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
