6. Setup Instructions

Follow these steps to set up your DieseRC remote control switch. Ensure power is disconnected before making any electrical connections.

6.1 Wiring the Receiver Board

The receiver board supports both DC and AC motor/device connections. Identify the NO (Normally Open), COM (Common), and NC (Normally Closed) terminals for each of the two independent relays.

Four different wiring diagrams for the DieseRC relay receiver board, showing connections for DC devices, AC devices, AC motors, and DC motors.

Figure 6.1: Various wiring configurations for different device types.

For detailed wiring examples, refer to Figure 6.1. The input voltage for the receiver board is DC 6V-30V. The relays can switch loads from 1V-250V AC/DC up to 10A.

6.2 Pairing the Remote Control (Programming Modes)

The receiver board has a 'Learning Button' to pair with the remote control and set the operating mode. There are three main operating modes: Momentary, Toggle, and Latched. The product is typically pre-set to Toggle mode.

Video 6.1: Detailed instructions on how to program the remote control switch for different operating modes.

  1. Momentary Mode (Mode 1): Press the learning button 1 time. Then, press the desired button on the remote (e.g., 'A'). The light on the receiver will flash, indicating successful pairing. In this mode, the relay activates only while the remote button is pressed.
  2. Toggle Mode (Mode 2): Press the learning button 2 times. Then, press the desired button on the remote. The light on the receiver will flash. In this mode, one press turns the relay ON, and another press turns it OFF.
  3. Latched Mode (Mode 3): Press the learning button 3 times. Then, press button 'A' on the remote, followed by button 'B'. The light on the receiver will flash. In this mode, pressing 'A' turns Relay 1 ON and turns Relay 2 OFF (if it was ON). Pressing 'B' turns Relay 2 ON and turns Relay 1 OFF (if it was ON).

6.3 Resetting the Receiver

To clear all paired remotes and reset the receiver to its default state, press the learning button 8 times. The indicator light will flash rapidly, confirming that all stored remote codes have been cleared.

7. Operating Modes Explained

Understanding the different operating modes is crucial for effective use of your remote control switch:

  • Momentary Mode: The relay remains activated only as long as the corresponding button on the remote is pressed. Releasing the button deactivates the relay. This is suitable for applications requiring temporary activation, such as a momentary door release.
  • Toggle Mode: Each press of the remote button toggles the state of the relay. One press turns the relay ON, and the next press turns it OFF. This is ideal for applications like turning lights ON/OFF or opening/closing a gate with a single button.
  • Latched Mode: This mode provides interlocking control between the two relays. Pressing button 'A' activates Relay 1 and deactivates Relay 2. Pressing button 'B' activates Relay 2 and deactivates Relay 1. This is useful for applications where only one of two states should be active at a time, such as controlling the forward/reverse direction of a motor.

8. Maintenance

To ensure the longevity and optimal performance of your DieseRC remote control switch, follow these simple maintenance guidelines:

  • Cleaning: Periodically wipe the receiver board and remote controls with a dry, soft cloth. Avoid using harsh chemicals or abrasive materials.
  • Battery Replacement (Remote): The remote control uses a CR2 battery. If the remote's indicator light dims or its range decreases, replace the battery. Refer to the remote's casing for battery compartment access.
  • Environmental Protection: Keep the receiver board in a dry, dust-free environment. If installed outdoors, ensure it is housed in a waterproof enclosure.

9. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your DieseRC remote control switch, refer to the following common problems and their solutions:

ProblemPossible CauseSolution
Remote control does not work.Remote not paired; battery low/dead; out of range; interference.Re-pair the remote following Section 6.2. Replace remote battery. Move closer to the receiver. Check for strong interference sources.
Device does not activate/deactivate.Incorrect wiring; overloaded relay; power supply issue.Verify wiring connections as per Section 6.1. Ensure load does not exceed 10A. Check power supply to the receiver board.
Short range.Obstacles; interference; low remote battery.Minimize obstacles between remote and receiver. Check for interference. Replace remote battery.
Relay clicks but device doesn't respond.Wiring issue to the device; device malfunction.Check connections from relay terminals to the device. Test the device independently.
