4. Setup Guide

4.1. NVR Placement

Place the NVR in a secure, dry, and well-ventilated area. Ensure it is close to a power outlet and your internet router for network connectivity. Avoid placing it in direct sunlight or near heat sources.

4.2. Camera Installation

  1. Mounting: Select appropriate mounting locations for each camera, ensuring optimal viewing angles and coverage. Use the provided mounting hardware to securely attach the cameras.
  2. Cabling: Connect each camera to an available PoE port on the NVR using the provided Cat5e cables. These cables supply both power and video data.
  3. Power On: Connect the NVR to a power source using the provided power adapter. The system will power on automatically.

4.3. Initial Configuration

Connect the NVR to a monitor via HDMI or VGA and use the USB mouse to navigate the on-screen setup wizard. Follow the prompts to set up network access, date/time, and user accounts. Ensure the NVR is connected to your network for remote access features.

5. Operating Instructions

5.1. Live View

Access live video feeds from all connected cameras through the NVR's local interface or via the MontavueGo mobile application. The app allows you to view multiple cameras simultaneously.

5.2. Playback and Recording

Recordings are stored on the 2TB surveillance-grade HDD. Use the NVR interface or the MontavueGo app to search and playback recorded footage by date, time, or event type (e.g., motion detection). You can also save important clips directly to your phone or a USB drive.

Configure AI-powered smart motion detection and tripwire settings via the NVR menu or MontavueGo app. These settings allow you to define specific areas for detection and receive alerts only for human or vehicle activity, minimizing irrelevant notifications.

5.4. Audio Monitoring

Utilize the built-in microphones in the cameras to listen in on the monitored area. This feature is accessible through the NVR and the MontavueGo app.

6. Maintenance

  • Camera Cleaning: Periodically clean camera lenses and housings with a soft, damp cloth to remove dust, dirt, or water spots that may obstruct the view. Do not use harsh chemicals.
  • Software Updates: Check for firmware updates for your NVR and cameras regularly through the Montavue website or the NVR's system settings. Keeping software updated ensures optimal performance and security.
  • Hard Drive Health: Monitor the health of the NVR's hard drive through the system settings to prevent data loss. Consider backing up critical footage periodically.
