2. Safety Information
Please read all safety warnings and operating instructions carefully before using this meter. Improper use can result in electric shock, injury, or damage to the meter or equipment under test.
- Always ensure the meter is in the correct function and range for the measurement.
- Do not exceed the maximum input values specified for each range.
- Exercise extreme caution when working with voltages above 30V AC RMS, 42V peak, or 60V DC. These voltages pose a shock hazard.
- Before making resistance, continuity, or diode measurements, disconnect power to the circuit and discharge all high-voltage capacitors.
- Inspect test leads for damaged insulation or exposed metal before use. Replace if damaged.
- Do not operate the meter if it appears damaged or if the case is open.
- Replace batteries immediately when the low battery indicator appears to ensure accurate readings.
- Adhere to local and national safety codes.

6. Operation
This section details how to use your LC-38B multimeter for various measurements.
6.1 Power On/Off
Turn the toggle switch (Figure 4.1, item 4) to any desired measurement function to power on the device. To power off, turn the toggle switch to the "OFF" position. The device also features an auto-power-off function to conserve battery life.
6.2 Measuring AC/DC Voltage
The LC-38B automatically identifies AC or DC voltage within its range of 0.2V to 600V.
- Connect the red test lead to the VΩ input (Figure 4.1, item 1) and the black test lead to the COM input (Figure 4.1, item 8).
- Turn the toggle switch to the "V" position. The meter will automatically detect AC or DC voltage.
- Touch the test probes to the circuit points where you want to measure voltage.
- Read the voltage value on the LCD display.

Figure 6.2: LC-38B in use for automotive electrical diagnostics.
6.3 Measuring Resistance, Continuity, and Diode
The LC-38B can measure resistance from 200Ω to 60MΩ, perform continuity tests, and diode tests.
- Connect the red test lead to the VΩ input and the black test lead to the COM input.
- Turn the toggle switch to the "Ω" position.
- Press the Select key (Figure 4.1, item 6) to cycle through Resistance (Ω), Diode (->|), and Continuity (buzzer symbol) modes.
- For Resistance: Touch the probes across the component. Read the resistance value.
- For Continuity: Touch the probes across the circuit. A buzzer will sound if continuity exists (resistance below approx. 50Ω).
- For Diode: Touch the red probe to the anode and the black probe to the cathode. The display will show the forward voltage drop. Reverse the probes; an open circuit (OL) indicates a good diode.
6.4 Data Hold Function
To freeze the current reading on the display, press the HOLD key (Figure 4.1, item 5). The "DH" symbol will appear on the LCD. Press the HOLD key again to release the reading and return to live measurement.
6.5 Backlight and Flashlight
The LC-38B is equipped with an intelligent auto-backlight and a bright LED flashlight for improved visibility in dark environments.
- Flashlight: Press the Lamp Light key (Figure 4.1, item 9) to turn on the LED flashlight. Press again to turn off.
- Backlight: Long press the Backlight key (Figure 4.1, item 10) to activate the LCD backlight. Long press again to turn off.

7. Maintenance
7.1 Cleaning
Wipe the meter's case with a damp cloth and mild detergent. Do not use abrasives or solvents. Keep the test leads clean and free of debris.
7.2 Battery Replacement
Refer to Section 5.1 for detailed instructions on battery replacement. Always replace both AAA batteries at the same time with new ones to ensure optimal performance.
7.3 Storage
If the meter is not used for an extended period, remove the batteries to prevent leakage and damage. Store the meter in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
8. Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues with your LC-38B multimeter, refer to the following common problems and solutions:
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Meter does not power on. | Dead or incorrectly installed batteries. | Check battery polarity and replace batteries if necessary (refer to Section 5.1). |
| "OL" (Overload) displayed. | Measurement exceeds the selected range or open circuit. | Ensure the meter is in the correct function and range. For resistance/continuity, check if the circuit is open. |
| Inaccurate readings. | Low battery, dirty test leads, or incorrect function/range. | Replace batteries, clean test leads, verify function and range selection. |
| No continuity beep. | Circuit resistance is too high or meter not in continuity mode. | Ensure the meter is in continuity mode and the circuit is closed (resistance below approx. 50Ω). |
